Polaroid Type 59

I was looking up some info on Polaroid's site and decided to check to see if the 59 entry had been updated since the rumors of it getting canceled. Still no "no longer being made" message, but they've removed the "Buy Online" button for 59. 51 and 56 also don't have the buy button and do have "No longer being manufactured" messages.

it's only a matter of time, maybe a couple years, before they only produce 600 and digital cameras.

Don't forget all those cheap consumer electronics. The Petters Group is only interested in the name, too bad Fuji didn't buy Polaroid.

Me thinks we should ban discussions about discontinued Polaroid film. It is kinda like hearing Santa Clause is a fake - every few months. Grossly disappointing, and extremely disheartening...

If there is a Polaroid film that you love, that has been, or is going to be discontinued, you should write to Fuji to ask that the add  it to their line of instant films. And you should mention what you use it for, if you manipulate it or make transfers, so that their incarnation has the same properties.

I know that their corporate plans are that they are going to be the last ones standing with film. They are still putting R&D into it. So it wouldn't hurt for them to hear from film users who still want to buy particular instant films.

yeah, i think fuji is currently my favorite company. they are big but they still seem to make an effort in many different areas. they don't seem to be continuously shutting down divisions and products related to film. i don't think kodak makes a film camera anymore...just film. i noticed konica minolta doesn't have anything to do with cameras, film or digital. i couldn't find any film cameras on pentax's site.

I've already done this. The answer was that they weren't going to get into it. My Type 85 and 665 went away, but I have a refrigerator full of it. At least that is consolation.

i noticed that the one600 has been discontinued. so they currently aren't selling any instant cameras. true they don't make the cameras for any of the other films they produce, but this is certainly not a good sign.
