nikon f2 help
« on: June 05, 2022, 07:59:00 PM »
Hi all,
I just picked up a fellow filmwasters Nikon F2 with a DP1 meter.
The meter works fine on my husband's F2, but not on mine
So, I need to figure out if my F2 is repairable and something I can tackle .
Any help and tips would be great!
The camera is in beautiful cosmetic condition and I'm still pinching myself that I was able to get it .
It's the silver version.

Have you checked if there is any oxidation on the camera's contacts?
From memory, on the F2, the battery on the bottom powers only the meter, so check if there is power coming to the meter on top using a voltmeter.
Also check that the battery is good and making good contact.

Update.
The F2 doesn't have any corrosion that I could find in the battery chamber .
I tested the power with a continuity tester and the camera is not passing power through....so I'll just sunny 16 it.
I'm not willing to take it apart myself just to make the meter work.
Onward...

I don't blame you for not wanting to take it apart.
The only thing I'd do is remove the bottom plate to see if the wire is not broken there. If it's not, then I'd just manual meter it like you said.
So far I've not had great success taking apart SLR cameras so I'd just leave it at that.
