Have been shooting Olympus half frame since 1971. For B&W, which I have always processed myself if I need to see what I’ve got then, after shooting not less than 10 frames, I advance once, go in darkroom, open back, snip off exposed film and push it onto plastic reel that has had the ball bearings removed and load that into my tank. Flip on lights, trim and reload remaining roll. Sure, you lose a few frames, so that is a trade off. But, you can get around to developing the film if that is necessary or desirable.
Use HC-110 diluted 60:1 as a one shot so not too much wasted developer.
Back in the day, when bulk film was very cheap I short loaded if I didn’t need a lot of exposures but now days…….I’m old and it ain’t the same.
