Yes, it's official, I've lost my mind a long time ago and I think this project is yet another proof of this
I had this broken Chinon CE-4 that I got for really cheap. I wanted to fix it as it was in really nice shape but when taking it apart some wires broke and I couldn't find where they were supposed to be connected. Bummer.
Then I thought of something I saw on the Homemade Camera Podcast and decided to give it a go. I set to convert it into an x-pan like camera...
Took me a week to figure out how the heck this thing was put together. It had everything from strangely placed screws to glue and structural tape.
But I managed to take it down to just the film advance.
I cut the film window as large as it would go.
I designed a front plate for it that I still need to fit.
I need to figure-out the top cover, the viewfinder, the lens cone, the light leaks...
I already figured out the lens and shutter, it's going to be a 90mm Ansco Viking from the 20's. This should give me about the same as a 59mm on 24x36.
Film gate is 24x60, so not quite as wide as the x-Pan but still considerable.
