Well a very belated Christmas and New year wishes from me as I have been laid up with the dreaded Covid 19.
I wasn't bad enough to go to hospital thankfully but I have pretty much been confined to bed since Xmas day up till a couple of days ago, with my phone to keep me company.
I didn't have any of the classic(?) symptoms at all but a constant headache, unable to take anything more than a shallow breath and a vice like grip feeling to my windpipe and chest. I am a relatively fit guy who ran 5 miles or so twice weekly and I struggled to walk the dozen or so steps from my bedroom to the bathroom without being totally out of breath and feeling dizzy.
I took a test on the 29th which I never got the results back in the allotted 2 -5 days so took another on the 5th Jan which proved positive. I feel lucky as I never had to go to hospital but there was a time for a couple of days when my wife was on the verge of calling an ambulance. Thankfully no one else in the house caught it from me and I am on the mend, although I still cant take a full breath without a little discomfort.
Work have put me on furlough, I was due back on the 4th so I don't have to worry about that and I have recently ventured outside for a couple of short walks and felt ok on returning.
So I hope everyone had a good Xmas and whatever you do keep away from other people as much as possible - I think I got it at work travelling on the shuttle at the airport, it was a little crowded, - wear a mask and implore anyone who isn't to wear one, believe me you don't want to get it, wash your hands etc etc etc....
Stay as safe as you can.
