Weekend - November 6 to 8, 2020
« on: November 06, 2020, 01:49:26 PM »
A few parting shots from the aluminum smelter as I have moved on to the fire cleanup in Oregon.  I did get to spend a whole day at home to say hello to my wife and dogs, they still remembered me.  These were shot with a Leica IIf using a Leitz Summaron.  The film is Kodak Panatomic-X that expired 3/1963, developed in Beer.

Brian, if the horse can use an Elmar, does he know how to master bottom-loading a Leica as well?

Here are a few shots from my recent holiday in the Ardnamurchan peninsula of Scotland:

I may be being an ass, but I think that horse is a mule.

I had to load it for him, he's all hoofs when it comes to stuff like that ;D.  I suppose I should have worded that better.

I was thinking that but wasn't sure, I guess I don't know an ass from my elbow.  These two look quite similar but the one on the left looks more like a horse to me.

Long ears and short mane. I think they're both mules.

Here's a horse from my past doing equine photography. Any excuse...

Another photo from the WABAC for me this week and a bit of rainy Saturday morning musing.

My grandfather's older sister and her first child, who was born on 11/11/1920, scanned from the original negative. My best guess is that the little guy, Paul, is about 6 months old in the photo, so this was likely taken in April or May of 1921. Paul will celebrate his 100th birthday this coming Wednesday. His generation is the first to have grown up with ubiquitous still photography, making it possible for my generation to see our parents grow up, virtually from birth, in the photos taken and saved over the past century. I have no confidence that digital files will remain or even be recoverable in 2120. I am confident that the B+W negatives of my grandchildren, that I'm archiving today, will be found by their grandchildren some day.

Kevin, I like those "beach" shots. Here are a couple LF shots from a series I just started. Read more here.

Slipping in at the end of the weekend with a random shot from my neighborhood. Contax T on old Gold [I love that term ... in high school we used to call those 40's of Old English 800 "Old Gold" ;D ] shot at ISO50 because of questionable storage conditions...

Old gold....
I think I'm going to adopt that term.

Satish, you really are an endless source of fun expressions! ;D
