British Journal of Photography

I have a question that's been bugging me for a while now.
The BJP sent me an offer to join their 1854 Access program for 1£.
Now I'm wondering if it's worth it?

It gives access to all the BJP archives, though I don't know if I can save the issues...

Here's the link

£1 only gets you access for the first quarter, after that it's full price. So depends if you can cancel after the first quarter. As for saving issues, I don't know.

I used to buy the BJP but didn't have a lot of content that I was interested in so stopped. You can get an idea of the content from https://www.bjp-online.com/

Yeah, I've been there before.
There was lots of stuff from people working on subjects relating to sexual identity, something I never really understood why it should be a subject in the first place as I always thought that people were what they are, period.

But I only had access to a single issue, so I can't really judge for the rest.

I am only a very occasional reader, usually if the cover article catches my eye (yeah, yeah - I'm an easy sell) at an airport - remember those? I made a conscious decision some time ago to stop buying photo mags. In the beginning, I bought all the UK how-to magazines to get knowledge. But most of them were gear driven, both in content and advertising. And all of them told me how to take the photo on the page. But I wanted to develop my own style and eye and I thought these magazines actually hindered my development as a picture taker, once I had gathered enough information to understand the tech aspect sufficiently.

I did the same thing.
Though I really miss darkroom and camera technique.

If they give me a darkroom, I'll buy all their back copies

That would be marketing genius! (though likely a loss leader)
