BBC2 documentary welll worth a look
« on: May 03, 2020, 08:33:19 PM »
Last night on BBC2 was a docu about Lee Miller =Life on the front line what an intereting programme. To my shame I hadn't heard of her but man what an interesting life that she led. Model, muse photograher even a feminist in some sense, If you can take a watch you'll definitely enjoy it

Thanks for that Irv. If I'd noticed it was on I would have recorded it. But it's on iPlayer. Unfortunately, not available outside the UK.

It's getting to be harder and harder to do. You can't just use a proxy like in the old days. Last I checked they asked for your TV license number.

Film is the vinyl record of photography.

I've never seen them ask for a licence number - not sure how they would check it. They do ask if you have a licence but it's just an honesty thing - if you say yes you're in. But the location thing is a pain.

Thanks for the heads up irv... I'll catch it on iPlayer...

Did you know that Farleys farm, Lee Miller's home with Roland Penrose, is not too far from you, down in Sussex?
The gallery is open a couple of days a week, and often shows work from Miller's archive... Might be worth a trip when such things are possible again.

I'll definitely have to figure out a way in.

Oh yeah just googled and saw that it's not to far outside Eastbourne so could do it and the town one sat/sunday when the world opens up again.

I watched this last night and agree it is well worth watching. I went to a London exhibition of her work a few years ago and was really impressed with her work and her humanity.
