I'm sure I'm not the only one doing some sort of blogging (I have an irrational hatred for that word, but I digress) or producing other photography-related content out there in the vastness of the interweb, so I figured that a thread in which everyone can post links to their latest off-site work, ramblings, or whatever might prove useful. So, if you've done something you're not too embarrassed by, post a link here so the rest of us can see it without working too hard to find it (this thread is really just a semi-clever way for me to be lazy).

Nice post. I enjoyed it. Familiarity certainly breeds fun for me, I think, because of the reasons you mention.

That was an enjoyable read. It got me thinking, is anyone a great fan of Steely Dan? I suppose someone out there must be. "Admirer," I could definitely see.

It's absolutely true - Steely Dan just doesn't inspire enthusiasm like a lot of other well-known bands of the era, though the era itself was fairly uninspiring. Somewhere I'm sure there is a group of rabid fans. I hope they're both very happy.

I haven't had a chance to grit's video yet, but I got to look at Peter's post over at 35mmc. On my screen the photos seem very contrasty and quite dark in the shadows. You talk about layers to the blacks, but I don't really see them; the Cadillac and the bike feel underexposed to my eye. Do you think this is just a matter of how they appear on my monitor? Have you printed any of them yet?

I think it might be your monitor. I've gotten very positive comments on them, particularly regarding the blacks -- to the 35mmc post, on the Ferrania P30 thread here at Filmwasters, and elsewhere. But maybe people are just highly suggestable!

I have a vague memory of enjoying some Steely Dan tracks when I was living on a beach for a while in the mid '70s. Listening to a lot of Zappa and Spirit and Floyd so there was no shortage of good music, but then you hear something and ask, and yes, it was a bit different. But I never followed them.

But still, cameras to collect, or to shed - sometimes it does seem like a seasonal moult when you get rid of an entire format. But over recent years I've had more of a thing for making them, and while I told myself I would stop because I had enough - I am just making one more now, with the last of the timber.

Because compulsion. And the why of making or modifying is something I was talking about with two online buddies the other week - Nick Lyle and Ethan Moses of the Homemade Camera Podcast.

We also talk a bit about making sculpture, forging, casting, and welding, and just making in general. You can down load it:

The Cadi looks wonderful on my Eizo monitor - the sort of blacks I never manage to get back from the lab with machine prints. I've not calibrated my monitor and is set straight out of the box, but graphic designer chums tell me that monitors should be calibrated every so often to get anything near accurate colour rendition.

I think I would find that hard to work with, especially with limited availability for experimentation with exposure and development.

I strangely always have a hard time listening to podcasts as my brain somehow can't listen attentively while I try and concentrate on something else. Music is ok as I can filter it out but not talk radio.

Podcasts are hit or miss for me too but I really enjoyed this one! It definitely led me to visit Sandeha's website, the browsing of which was a much richer experience for having listened to the podcast.

Francois, I have the same problem. Podcasts are cool if I'm driving long distance but I hardly ever do that. Otherwise it's like listening to a lecture - it's full attention, or none.

Yup, it is very contrasty and only works well in certain conditions. I think old low-contrast single-coated or non-coated lenses are a must, plus low-contrast lighting. But in those limited circumstances, I love how it renders.

Yup, it is very contrasty and only works well in certain conditions. I think old low-contrast single-coated or non-coated lenses are a must, plus low-contrast lighting. But in those limited circumstances, I love how it renders.

Probably be good with something like my scratched-up old Summar shot wide open. Shooting into the light at wide apertures produces some serious veiling flare.
