What the postman brought today
« on: August 04, 2010, 09:04:11 PM »

I only bought them for the Demi EE17 but the Vito C and the Contessa LK look interesting. One of the Minoltas has a film in it so we'll what that's got on it at some point. Cost? £2 per camera. :)

Wow! super cheap!

I have the same Minolta (the 5000 with the square red button). I'm keeping it because it works on regular AA's.

Love the Demi, since the Chaika I'm a total sucker for half frame.

I've decided to keep the Demi and the Contessa LK. Diane has put her name on the Minoltas and Canon but the rest are available to anyone if they want them. Here's the state of what's left...

Ricoh 35EFS - Not working as far as I can tell though shutter seems to fire but always the same speed. A new battery made no difference. Light seals perished and would need replacing.

Minolta Vectis 500 - APS camera. Faulty. Probably electronic. Turns itself off after each shot.

Coronet 6x6 - Very poor condition. Shutter doesn't work. Parts of back catch missing. Bit rusty in places. Might make a pinhole if lens/shutter is removed.

Voigtlaender Vito C - All seems to work but in poor external condition and door catch seems to have siezed so door doesn't stay shut. Fixable I guess.

Dacora Dignette 300S - Generally good condition but shutter not working.

If anyone wants any of these for the cost of postage, send me a PM.

Peter, it looks like you got a really interesting haul there. Choppert, that Nikon 35 is just beautiful.

I've just picked up a Canon Pellix SLR (1965 model not the QL version). The meter doesn't work (big deal!) but the bodywork is immaculate as it's been sitting in its custom case for all its life. Mechanically, all the shutter speeds seem silky smooth and there's no crunching or grinding with the winder either.

The Pellix's has a pellicle mirror which is "fixed" - i.e. it is semi-translucent and allows most of the light to pass through to the film. This makes it very quiet in operation with zero mirror slap if tripod mounted. It also meant that Canon had to sell the camera with a quick lens. Many went out with an f1.4 but mine has an FL breech-lock series, 58mm f1.2 in mint condition. The coating is a stunning bronze colour and I can't wait to see what the photos look like.

I haven't tried yet but I think the lens will also work on my other FD bodies (F1-N, EF and A1) so metering shouldn't be a problem.
