Excellent work here as usual. I love the variety.

I'm way behind with my processing. Here's some images that I've only just got around to processing from summer 2009! They were taken at a neighbouring villages' flower and scarecrow festival with a Holga and Portra 400VC.

Andrea, that's hilarious!  You've reminded me what I like best about this group, summed up by something my ex often said: 'Why'd you take a picture of THAT?'  She never did get it...

There's such a lot here that I like; for reasons of nostalgia I keep going back to Windy's red bus stairs shot--it reminds me of that moment when you had to decide whether to leap for the bus or wait for the next one.  Back when public transport was fun!

Calbisu, those images are just brill. What technique are you using if you don't mind me asking?

I actually got into the darkroom again after a lay-off. Printed this pinhole on old Kodak Polyprint - sepia toned - from the croft. Taken with home-made pinhole holder box using GP3 film developed in Bromophen.

Mikeg...absolutely love scarecrows...these are wonderful!
Terry..... I can relate to your comment regardin your "ex"...my husband and his friends continually give my a back lash regarding the lack of sharpness in some of my images and what I choose to shoot!..they will never learn! all in good fun however!

Hi Steve.

Love them both but the top one is a cracker. Hunstanton?

Yeah , Hunstanton, have had some time off recently and really wanted to go to do the rock and misty water thing, the problem wiht hunstanton is that it's so shallow it is unusual to get white water so everything just looks 'muddy'. Am planning a trip to Cromer or sheringham next time the weather is right. I have some more but I don't want to bore everyone just yet.

thanks for the positive comment. :)

I like your first scarecrow shot MikeG and of course the Dalek.
Steve that first shot is great. I love the coast if you want white water against breaker try Overstrand when the tide comes in when its out you get some nice limpets and sea weed.

This is tide coming in at Overstrand on Ektar 100

I got back an insane amount of colour photos this last week but I'm distracted by weird medical Magic Lantern slides I bought today at a camera fair. I'm going into the darkroom tomorrow evening to try to contact print them onto ortholitho film and maybe make them into cyanotypes (or possibly enlarge them)

They're kind of odd but interesting.

GORGEOUS coastal shots, Steve!

I love yours too, Photo Utopia

Heather - those are hilariously curious poses!  What a wonderful idea about those medical slides!  I'd love to see them once you've completed :)

Those medical shots Heather, could make a fascinating exhibition, especially if you did them as cyanotypes.

Nice birds Greys on Grey. If you want to upload other images Greys on Grey, but finding the file size too big, try reducing the image size. I notice the birds image is 900x900. Try 600x600 or even 500x500. You could also increase the jpeg compression, but not too much.

Both shots are great Steve but the first one is my favorite!

Heather, those shots are very strange, especially the first and second. Its the way the subject is being manhandled that makes the images so strange. I wonder why he's being held like that.

Well, I wasted a ton of film this weekend, most of it of the TIP variety. I got just a few keepers. First shot is Fuji FP 100 taken with the 104 Land camera and the second is TIP PX100 taken with the SX-70.

Another from Maine.  I guess I should add that all of these were taken with my trusty A1 using either TMAX, PAN-X or TRI-X.

Nice shots of Main Grey!

What did the yellow filter do for you first shot Sapata? I only know what effects a red filter have. Great shots too, btw.

Mojave: I still use cokin filters.  I found a red and green stacked makes a pretty decent ND filter in a pinch.

(disclaimer - Red and Green do not actually create a ND filter.  They do affect the outcome.  But they do darken up things enough so that the exposure can be slowed down.)

Really like your stuff Greys and Mojave, greys the bird flock is my favourite and Smuuty nose a close second.

Heather I think your find is great, interested in what you do with them.

Photoutopia, thanks for the tip, I'm off today so going to wander over to west runton, sheringham/cromer. Really like the insecticid shot.
Phil your chair shot is fantastic, would definitely like that in my collection.

Thanks for all you positive comments.

Erin - colour filters are used to subtly or more directly affect the rendering of tonal relationships on panchromatic film. This link explains it reasonable well.

http://www.schneiderkreuznach.com/tipps/sw_fotografie_e.htm

Yellows are good to darken blues (eg skies) without affecting other colours too severely. They dont work too well in the hazy weak sunshine in the UK, but in areas with bright sun and strong blue skies, they are very effective, especially with some judicious darkroom trickery in printing.

It doesn't change the mood as drastically as the red filter, but it gives a slighly better contrast. You can see the clouds in the 1st shot are a bit more "dramatic" than usual...
I keep the filter in my camera most of the time...

Thanks all! And thank you Leon and Sapata for the filter info. I have very bright blue skies out here so I think I will definitely try a yellow filter. I think one of my Agfas has one built in.
