With all this talk lately about having too many cameras I think it's time for another "Share The Love".
These are the rules as Francois put it last time:
For all those who are new here (as in haven't played the game before), this has been a staple of the site on an irregular basis. And there are rules needed to make it work well.
I put up for adoption a piece of photographic gear. It can be anything that will fit through the mail. The first one who wants it claims the item but must put up for adoption another item. Think of it as a gear exchange train.
Eg.: Frank puts a camera which is adopted by Mark who puts an exposure meter which is claimed by Amy who puts a grain focuser which is adopted by.....
So, try and not put up some "Local Pickup Only" items.
If an item sticks for a few days because nobody wants it, you can switch it for something else. Just try and keep the exchange going for as long as possible.
Shipping is negotiated privately between the parties. Items are not sold in any way, it's just a trade.
To get this going I'm putting up for adoption an Argus C3 Rangefinder with a roll of Kodak Max 400 (expired 2007). I will pay postage worldwide to get this started on the right foot. I have not run film through it but everything seems to function properly.
-
nice start, bryan! that argus cintar lens sure seems like an interesting speciment. I gotta say that I love some of the shots that I've seen from people using it wide open :)
-
I hope to be able to join once things heat up. As it is I am not looking for another camera, rather getting rid of some. Good of you to get it off to a start Bryan.
-
You never know, sometimes little cool gadgets come by...
But on that Argus, it is really a tough camera. They were often said to be the American Leica. While they ain't as refined as their German counterparts, it really says a lot about their robustness. And the lenses are some of the last ones said to give swirling bokeh.
So who will be the lucky one that will get a change to put his paws on such a fine specimen of Made in Ann Arbor Michigan gear?
-
Hmmm... That is a good start. I think the 'brick' was prolific and well respected. Tempting...
-
It was. And this one's in way better shape than mine!
-
That Argus is a fine looking thing, and I'd love it if I'm not too late?
I've not taken part in this before, so does film count? I have a block of 10 rolls of T-Max 400 (in date - refrigerated) if someone wants it!
-

I believe film counts, if you want the camera PM your address to me and offer up the film.
-
Great, I'm in! PM on the way.
There are 10 x rolls T-Max 400 including postage to anywhere on planet earth.
(this isn't actually one of the films you will receive!) :)
-
So Now it looks like Nigel will take the Argus.
We now have a super deal on 10 rolls of T-Max 400. Who will be the lucky winner?
-
I'll take Nigel's film and offer up a Holga 120N.
I bought the Holga to see whether the toy camera "thing" was for me. I've used it to shoot 3 or 4 rolls of film (no more). It's "mint" condition and I'll put up postage and packaging to wherever is necessary. I don't dislike the camera but the toy camera look is definitely not my cup of Earl Grey.
-
So yes, the great deal on T-Max is gone-gone-gone!
We now have a mint Holga 120N.
That is the standard trouble free model. Built so that nothing can really go very wrong with it.
Who will be the taker? This is an incredible deal since postage is included. The perfect opportunity to get ready for next year's World Toy Camera Day!
-
Oooh, I would take the Holga but I'd feel guilty for a year if someone spent more on postage than on the camera. :)
I also have this problem, I need to get rid of more gear than I receive. That's a completely different strategy, I think.
-
Well, you can always replace gear you don't want anymore with some gear you want. It makes things a lot less painful in a sense.
-
This is S-L-O-W
Anybody up to pick-up that Holga?
If not, somebody's going to have to offer something else to get this started again.
-
Yeah a little surprising. Maybe we've reached Peak Holga.
-
I can put 2 or 3 up for P&P only. Then somebody can have a choice of which one.
-

I'll even throw in a couple of rolls of 120 film if anyone wants my Holga..... :o C'mon, someone must want one.....
-
Come on people, this is starting to be the deal of the century!
a brand new Holga with a few rolls of 120 to get you started.
You can't get better than that!
Just look at how much you'd pay for something similar elsewhere?
-
OK, I give in, I'll take the Holga.
But you guys will have to wait till tomorrow for my contibution - too tired now after a printing session and developing a dozen rolls of film...
-
ooh, andrej with a holga? this could mean some interesting results in the future :)
-

Great stuff. If you can PM me your name and address, I'll get the (as new) Holga and 2 rolls of 120 film (not sure what I've got in the fridge at the moment but it'll be 400 ISO and probably out of date) off to you at the weekend.
-
ooh, andrej with a holga? this could mean some interesting results in the future :)
Well, I am looking forward to it also - I've had one before, briefly, before it fell apart.. :) But in combination with lith printing the results were quite interesting.
-
Well, since I believe that looking at good photography is of almost same importance than actually producing images, my offering in this run of Share The Love is bookish. And I give you two, well, three options.
You may choose one of these: Aspects of Expression by Paul Gallagher - fantastic BW (film-made) imagery with good insights as well as some useful tips for computer post-processing or if you are of colour persuasion you may pick up the well known Landscape Beyond by David Ward - great photographs (also film made, I believe) with some thoughtful and inspiring writing. Choose either of these and I'll cover the postage within EU. OR you may take both of them, but in that case I'd ask you to contribute to the shipping costs.
Both books have obviously been read but they are in very good condition. Hope someone will enjoy them!
-
Just bumping this back up. Andrej has some nice books offered up now.
-
Books always make great Xmas gifts by the way ;)
I know some of you want to slim down their gear collection but nobody ever said that they wanted to reduce the size of their bookshelf!
Here's an opportunity to get something you definitely don't have.
-
I'll happily take both books and pay a contribution to postage :D
My offering is a choice of three cameras, or all three if you want to pay postage. I have never used any of them but as far as I am aware they all work. Here they are:
This is a lovely little Minolta 16 model P. It’s tiny and beautiful and I adore it. The problem is that I don’t have any film for it and don’t know how to get it developed, so I've never used it.
The camera below is a Kollor. It’s a medium format camera that I have no real idea how to use. I can load a film and take pictures with it but the lens barrel extends and I have no idea why. You look through the viewfinder but it is not connected in any way to the lens. It does look quite nice though, a bit tarnished here and there to be fair, but it’s an interesting looking thing. That’s the only reason I bought it. I didn’t need it, didn’t ever use it, I just liked the look of it.
This Canon M70 is a lovely little thing. Released in 1970, It takes a 126 film cartridge, which I have no idea where to get or develop either so another camera I have never used. I just wanted it.
Any takers?
-
I'll take that Canon M70. I should have some thing for offer after work.
-
Cool. Drop me a PM later with where to send it.
Are multiple streams allowed? I'm quite happy to let the other two go if anybody wants them.
-

Sure, why not. By the way, that Koroll looks like it may qualify as a toy camera, fixed aperture and fixed shutter speed.
-
Has Verian's Minolta a 1" sensor or is it MFT? ;) ;) ;) ;)
-
I think it has a WLF, but they put it on the back so its good for photographing shoes.

I have a Koroll II, a slightly newer version of the Koroll S camera being offered, and it definitely has a toy camera vibe to it. I recall looking at both of them and I believe the Koroll S has the option of switching from 6x6 and 3x4.5. The Koroll II is not a complicated camera and easy enough to open. I imagine the S is similar though the collapsible lens is a bit odd. In the Koroll II it is very easy to accidentally take multiple exposures which might appeal to some people. I'd be surprised if the Koroll S didn't have this feature / failure. Definitely a fun camera if you are so inclined.
Here's an example of an accidental multiple shot I did when I ran some 35mm film through the Koroll II (using these adapters - http://www.youmagine.com/designs/35mm-film-on-120-spool (http://www.youmagine.com/designs/35mm-film-on-120-spool)):

-
On the Kodak Instamatic 500, the lens collapses just for convenience/compactness. There is no optical function, but the shutter won't fire with the lens 'in'. Maybe this is the same on the Koroll.
-
I'm offering a Kodak Brownie Starflex, with manual and 5 rolls of very expired 127 film.
The Kodak Starflex is a fixed focus 4x4 medium format camera with a legendary Dakon lens. The camera has 2 shutter speeds for color and B&W. Has a handy folding "sports finder" wire-frame on the bottom. It has connections for a flash which sadly I don't have. I've never used the camera but the shutter fires and appears to be working correctly. Pretty simple camera though I'm sure someone out there on FW could easily make some nice images with it. Along with this camera I'm including 2 rolls of Kodak Gold 200 (expired 09/1990), 2 of Ektachrome 64 (expired 07/1978), and one Kodacolor-X (expired 07/1972).
Makes an excellent Christmas gift:

If we want to go multi-track then someone needs to keep track of that's available. I'm already confused!
-
I think we had this problem before. Single track might make it easier.
-
I used to need an excel spreadsheet to handle it all...
-
The neat thing about a Koroll S is that the lens bezel unscrews easily, so if you don't like ordinary Holgaesque shots you can either reverse the lens or fit a pinhole. I keep mine for these purposes. Definitely a toy.
Pinhole with Delta 3200, handheld.
The lens extends so that the shutter button can engage with the shutter.
-
Thanks Sandeha, the camera is a bit of a mystery to me.
I'll withdraw the other two to keep things simple, but if the whole thing stalls let me know and I can put them or something else up again.
-
Mike,
I'll take the starflex & film lot if nobody else has put their thumb on it. Probably offer up a Zorki...
Terry
-
Excellent Terry. PM your address and I'll try to get this out ASAP.
-
Thanks Mike!
Here goes: not a Zorki, rather a Fed-3. (The Zorki had issues but this one seems to be in good working shape.) I'll throw in a roll of Delta 100 too.
-
Is there a Industrar 61 of some sort on that Fed 3?
-
No--it's an Industar 26M. 52mm f/2.8
-
no one keen for this beautiful camera? lets keep this rolling :)
-
I can't believe nobody wants it!
The feds are way underrated. Lenses are incredibly good and very contrasty, almost up to Leica standards. They use Leica Thread Mounts, can be easily fitted to Leicas and Voigtlanders. And the camera itself can be fixed with just a simple flat head screwdriver! The body is completely derived from the Leica II and is mechanically very similar in many ways. A good camera in itself.
-
Thanks, Francois! Next time I sell a car will you write the ad copy?
-
I'll take the Fed.
I will offer a fully functional Yashica Minimatic-C. This is a nice auto rangefinder. The meter works, the shutter is really quiet and the film advance is like butter!
I took this with it.

-
Thanks James. After staring at your photo for a few seconds asking "where's the camera" I read the text....
-
I'm glad the Fed 3 went - I like my Fed 3b.
The Yashica Minimatic-C sounds cool - sharp fixed lens rangefinder with a 45mm f2.8 Yashinon lens that can be stopped down to f22!
-
but diffraction!
-
Here is a pic "of" the camera next to its younger sibling, the Electro 35 GSN.
-
And for a limited time, I will throw in this valuable coupon stuck to the film compartment door!

It's true! I have one and it's a great little camera, really fun to shoot with.
-
You should start making copies of that sticker... There probably would be some takers for it!
-
I'm going to preorder 100 of them.
-
Sorry, it's one of a kind and the only way to get it is to take the Minimatic! 8)
-
Jharr, I'll take the Minimatic C. I'll offer up a Polaroid 101 Automatic Land Camera in great working condition. I think it even has a good battery in it, at least it was still good earlier this year when I took the photo below. Here's the catch, I'm over 5,000 miles from home right now so I can't ship it until I get back around December 16th.

Matt
Great, PM your address and I'll ship it when I get home on the 16th.
-
will do, thank you :-)
-
Ok, after gladly grabbing the Polaroid 101, I offer the following. Once one (or a combo by the same person) is taken, I'll remove the rest to keep this thread flowing one for one.
- Polaroid button with leather case. Camera slighlty sun bleached but working
Edited to remove other stuff now button claimed...
-
I don't want to be the end point for this thread!
surely someone wants some lovely free film or even one of the lovely cameras below?
-
What, nobody wants free film???
And those cameras can be really neat.
Chinon always made some very good cine cameras. This is perfect for those who want to put on their art movie director's cap!
And the Polaroid "The Button" is an SX-70 camera with fixed focus and a fine plastic lens. Perfect to try out those Impossible films.
The Supercolor 635 is a 600 film compatible camera.
The Brownie Junior is one of those classic black boxes from Kodak. I don't know how much space there is inside the camera but it might be possible to modify it to take a regular roll of 120 on the empty side and use the 620 spool on the take-up side. This is the best way to get nice 6x9 negatives with that 1934 look to them.
-
I always feel bad when it takes a while for someone to take the latest offer. I'd probably take the film but I just don't know if I have anything to offer up in return. I'll look over my stuff to see if there's anything I'm overlooking or forgetting.
-
what are the rules as I've already done one?
-
The rule is simply to take one item and offer another one for trade... just like chain letters without the bad vibes.
-
Yes verian you can take another, you just need to offer another thing after..
-
If nobody has claimed anything from Chalky's list I'll gladly take the Polaroid Button! I'll post my item once I get home.
-
Excellent! Pm me your address and I'll get it sent to you asap

Up next is the Ricoh kr-5. It's relatively lightweight, has a built in meter and a pretty decent lens.
I removed all of the black paint from the case as it was crumbling, I quite like the resulting blank canvas.

Giving this a bump. There has been recent chatter about "workhorse" SLRs. I'll bet this one fits that bill.
-
The Ricoh KR-5 also takes Pentax K-mount lenses which are abundant and inexpensive.
http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Ricoh_KR-5 (http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Ricoh_KR-5)
-
I should also note that the self-timer is broken, I doubt that would be a deal breaker for anyone, but, I forgot to mention it in the original post.

Workhorse is exactly what I originally picked this one up for, but recently fell in love with rangefinders. The fed-2 is now my (what I would consider fairly reliable) workhorse. My only gripe is how much trouble I have finding decently priced lenses in good condition, but thats a discussion for a different thread :D
-
yes the ricoh kr-5 seems like a nice no frills camera (and in sexy black too). with the pentax mount it can take on a lot of lenses too :)
here it stands proudly behind a pentax mx for size
