Share The Love 3
« on: October 11, 2013, 09:15:47 PM »
Well, it's Fall and I feel like giving others the chance to play with some stuff I don't use. So, that can only mean one thing: It's the time to Share the Love!

For all those who are new here (as in haven't played the game before), this has been a staple of the site on an irregular basis. And there are rules needed to make it work well.
I put up for adoption a piece of photographic gear. It can be anything that will fit through the mail. The first one who wants it claims the item but must put up for adoption another item. Think of it as a gear exchange train.

Eg.: Frank puts a camera which is adopted by Mark who puts an exposure meter which is claimed by Amy who puts a grain focuser which is adopted by.....

So, try and not put up some "Local Pickup Only" items.

If an item sticks for a few days because nobody wants it, you can switch it for something else. Just try and keep the exchange going for as long as possible.

Shipping is negotiated privately between the parties. Items are not sold in any way, it's just a trade.

OK, First Item up for grabs.

It's a Minolta Riva Zoom 70 Date. The camera works very well (I used it once) and features a 35-70mm zoom f/5.3-9.8, date imprint and multiple flash modes.
It comes in "Champagne" color. Works using a single CR-123A lithium battery.

It's looking for a nice home.

I've got something in mind for when we get home later this month. Great idea for a new thread.

Good one Francois. I was contemplating starting v.3 myself. You beat me to it, you are much better at managing the thread anyhow. I'm in of course. I'll look over my stuff when I get back home next week.

Nicely done and explained François.

Please remember all, it's not an opportunity for people to be generous and give away loads of stuff - it must follow the chain of exchange. So try not to start your own chain. As it will get v confusing.

Of course, you are all free to post give aways on the trade/fs board :-)

I think you have to allow a couple more to offer stuff before you get any takers, or it will not get off the ground.

Well... I'll first give people a chance to go through their closets. I have so much stuff it won't be hard to change the first item.

OK, so no taker for the Minolta. Here's a second camera that needs a good home.

It's a Ricoh FF-9S. It has an auto-focus 35mm f/3.5 lens. The flash needs to pop-out to work, so simply keeping it in the camera makes it discrete. It works using a single CRP-2 battery. The reason I bought it is that it has an unusual feature for a point & shoot: Multiple Exposure. Just press the menu button next to the strap until M.E. appears. It's that simple.

I haven't used it but my eyeball tells me it works just fine. Also, the finder has bright lines and is not as tiny as some cameras I've seen.
Will this camera see some love?

Well the mods have put a lid on several offers going at the same time. I know it´s a bit messy and difficult to follow, but it worked last time round. Thanks to Francois I might add.

it didnt really work on either of the other 2 threads ... we just had a load of gear being offered that wasnt shifting and it was difficult to keep track of who should have put something up next ...

but it's really up to you peeps, if you want to start offering stuff, then feel free.

For the record, I like the idea and would participate, but I just don't think I have anything that would be interesting to anyone. The only camera I have that I don't shoot anymore is a Konica C35 EFP with a broken flash, and I don't think that's a particularly impressive offer :) As for accessories...I don't have anything that I'm not using except for a broken light meter.

OK, here's another one.
It's a Canon Sure Shot 80 Tele SAF.
It sports a selectable 38/80mm f/3.7-7.3 lens. But its best feature is the selector wheel at the back which gives you the choice of flash permanently off, always on, auto red-eye, auto everything and self timer. So, no flash going off when you don't want to.

I haven't put film through it but it appears to work flawlessly.

Will this beauty have a taker?

Boy... you sure are a tough crowd!

Lets hope this one is going to please someone.

It's a Sekonic Auto-Lumi model 86 exposure meter. It uses a selenium cell so no batteries are required. It's a reflected light meter and works very well outdoors. Indoors, I find it lacks a bit in sensitivity, but that's the case with all selenium meters. It's also very small and will fit in pretty much any pocket whether it be on your shirt or in your bag. It also comes with the leather case that protects the cell from exposure so that it lasts a long time.

So, will this get the ball rolling?

Francois, please let me know what I owe you for postage!

I have vintage KODAK Brownie Starmatic with 127 spool inside and with flash attachment..( works well) and also a Brownie Holiday  also with its 127 spool..I have used both of these. The HOIDAY has a crack or small portion of the front edge missing but I still have had no light leaks. I will post images as soon as my internet decides to upload the images to my computer...

I also have an Olympus pen EEs...vintage that is a very nice little camera..have taken it all over the world with me but haven't used it in about a year so maybe someone else would enjoy it..shoots half frame...

I was asking as I have two Pens already and it didn't seem fair to put my hand up for a third when somebody else might want it.

I will put my hand up for the starmatic if you are ok to ship to the UK, which I will happily pay for. That would be lovely :)

I have a Miranda Sensomat RE with 50mm 1:1.8 lens. It looks like the UV filter was put on when it was purchased and has never been off. The front glass is seriously pristine! I have used the camera and it works fine. The battery may need changing. I just don't use it since my Nikkormat FTn is my go-to 35mm.
This was taken with that camera using Lomo Xpro film.

Haha, I have to thank you too Andrej! I too was tempted but I have been trying out a friend's PEN and I am going to take if off his hands. But I have to say, halfframes are F-U-N! I hope you have a good time with it. I love just building bigger images with them. I have done the same before with 110 but the halfframe's format, orientation, and border, they are superior for that!

And with a mji I (or Stylus Inifinity, as they were called in North America) being offered up,  I  am excited to see so much olympus stuff getting passed around. I have one of those as well, so I will pass, but they are sharp little shooters.
