Thanks for the heads up on this Mike!
They don't make nostalgia like they used to.
-
Dang, I missed it.
-
Don't worry it's on BBC iPlayer. I'd recommend you watch it -it has some great interviews witht eh photographers.
-
It's on again tonight at 9pm on BBC HD. Also on BBC HD late Monday night.
Well worth watching. Rankin's quite good as presenter, better than I thought he would be! He also did an excellent programme on South African photography when the world cup was on.

I'll be watching it via iPlayer this weekend for sure. This programme in the same series also caught my eye "America on a Plate: The Story of the Diner" (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b017ss8x (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b017ss8x)).

Finally got round to watching this, it was good. However, I would have preferred someone, anyone, more relevant to the subject matter than Rankin presenting it.
I guess I may have been in the minority here though..

No, I tend to agree - I found his interviewing the weakest link of the programme, that's probably blasphemy I know but the rest of was v interesting.

I just thought he was a very lazy choice on the programme makers part.

Rankin was an uninspired choice to say the least!

I really liked the programme on the whole and the interviewees.. but just kept thinking, really, Rankin was really the best choice they could come up with? Bah.
-
So that's a thumbs down for Rankin then!

Well... he's probably the only one who's got his foot very well planted at the beeb when it comes to photo shows...
If they work in the same way as they do here, it's always the same actors that get parts simply because "the producer knows how they work". That also means new faces never get a chance.

I must figure a way to see this one. Diners are some of my favorite places on this planet and I tend to search them out purposely while on the road. A couple of the best diners I know of happen to be in bowling alleys, but that's a whole 'nuther world of wonder.

Check some of the bittorrent search engines. It is out there ;)
