Weekend 31st August - 2nd September 2018
« on: August 31, 2018, 04:58:26 PM »
I almost bought a Holga in an antiques shop the other day, but I remembered that I already had a box camera with some similar characteristics - one shutter speed, two apertures, fixed focus, and likely to blur the edges of the images. So I settled for buying a roll of epxired Pan F+  and shot with the box camera, a Coronet 12-Twenty, instead. Here's two of the results:

Very nice! I also have a roll of Pan F (fresh) that I hope to use this weekend.

I'm gonna add three pics this weekend, since I'll be busy. These are from last weekend.

This is a "selfie" shot on the Bronica using Ilford Delta 400. Philadelphia Museum of Art, on a mirror that belonged to Louis XVIII's bedroom. This roll of Delta had the weird "cloudy, dark streak" on the side/top of the negative, which was positively identified as an issue during development and not a light leak, which is good.

Inside the museum, Kodak Tri-X pushed to 800. Bronica ETRSi. That is Diana, by Saint-Gaudens.

Outside the museum. Ilford FP4+ 125 exposed at 100.

Stunning results with such an old camera Kevin, it couldn't have been done better with fancy new gear. I really love the Pan F+ too.

Wonderful start, everyone. Miguel my kids took art lessons in that museum for years and I've haunted every gallery. What a wonderful place.

Nice start to the weekend everyone.  These were shot with a Rolleiflex Automat using expired Kodak Aerochrome Infrared film.  I used a yellow filter.

Are the fuzzy edges from the camera?
Mine gives me sharp edges like most.

Wow! Those Aerochromes are amazing! I didn't realize you could use a yellow filter with it.

That's interesting ... the negs were quite curly, which could be another cause, allthough the anti-newton glass should have reduced the curl. Once I've flattened the negs I will try making wet prints and I'll see how they look. I'm rather hoping the fuzzy edges will still be there !

Thanks Satish, before shooting this film I did a little research and found that to get the best results you need to use a filter.  They recommend yellow, orange or red filters but yellow seems to be the best.  The red filter gives the most red saturation but it can get more difficult to get good results, that’s why I stuck with yellow.  If you look close at the butterfly it looks black and white, it was actually yellow and black but the yellow filter made the yellow in the wings look white.  It’s fun to shoot but at $38/roll I probably won’t be shooting much more.  There’s a guy on eBay that sells it out of Germany.

Wow, everyone!
Bryan, that aerochrome film is really like something out of "Fantasia".  Something that will wake you up!

Good going guys. Have a happy weekend, it's a long one here in the states.

Nice shots all! I have been super busy with work/life so haven't had much time to get out and shoot. But we did make it to the beach when the water was hitting record high temperatures here in San Diego. I took the Ondu Multiformat along and shot some 6x6 on Ultrafine Extreme 100.

A little bit of flash-dragging at a new club in the East Village in the same spot as the former Brownie's. Don't worry, it's not all gogo dancing ;D

As long as they don't try that French Can-Can act while you're in front of them trying to sip your beer while avoiding the kicks, it should be OK  ???

Since it's the long labor day weekend, here's one more. More of an oddity than anything else but still...

interesting shot that with the apple(?) catching bags :D

and glad to se someone else shooting some color infrared! I got a roll from a friend this summer for e-6 dev. first third of the roll was overexposed maybe four stops but it's almost not noticable, I'm quite surprised! Seems the kind of light you shoot in matter more.

I shot either yellow or orange filter the whole roll

this last one is one where it's most noticable with the over exposure I guess:

From what I could figure out, the guy put a ripe apple in each bag to make the fruit on the tree ripen faster.
I don't know how long it took him but there were a lot of those bags all over the tree.
He also had some washing machine drums that he filled with dirt and used as planters. And the refrigerator doors were used as pavers...

BTW Jonas, that really is some nice magenta trees you got going there :)
If there was more distortion it probably would have looked quite groovy...
