As I am on a long weekend off I'll start the w/end thread with a couple of slide film shot from my last trip to Scotland

Good job irv_b. I like the second one, probably because of the out of focus area that makes it quite interesting to me. I see the first one out of focus or bad scanned. Provia 100F is, as you know, really sharp. Something is happening with first shot...

Mine is in black and white this time. It was shot on a weekend about one month ago and developed last Wednesday.

irv_b, I really like the second shot, the focus is spot on and the shallow depth of field is very nice. I also like your contribution, MacArron, the focus area is well chosen and the lighting is very nice.

My contribution was shot with an Agfa Synchro Box (I think with the yellow filter setting) on Rollei Superpan 200 (dev. in Rodinal).

Becky, nice shot. I think that the Helios produces such a nice barrelly (is that even a word?!) blur in the out-of-focus areas. It fits your shot really well.

I have some spring flowers in color. These were shot with a Pentax K1000 using expired Kodak Gold 200 (metered at 100). The first two were shot with a Vivitar Macro Zoom lens and the last one was shot with a flipped SMC Pentax-A f/2 50mm lens.

Thanks Becky, I've only seen the red ones in the Pacific Northwest. The one I photographed was a shrub but I have a Dogwood tree in my yard that produces very similar flowers.

Good start everyone into the weekend.
My first pinhole ever, first time ever 4x5, Noon camera, FP4+ 125 ISO, 20 seconds exposure. Dev in Rodinal 1+50 for 15 minutes. Forgot the wide angle! So lots of empty road space but some indication of traffic moving to the left. Developing was a challenge (using Yankee tank). "Scan" using DSLR on light table, negative not entirely flat.

The neg is good on the light box with the loupe-so it must be my lousy scanning technique

Well... Last night, after a few Kalimotxos (Basque drink, coca-cola and red wine, with ice), I decided to use the C-41 kit that I had mixed the night before and test it on a couple of rolls.

I set my Datatainer bottles in some hot water and after 5 minutes or so I checked the temperature and began developing. The Blix, however, was around 5 degrees cooler than the Developer but the Unicolor manual said it was OK.

Here are the results of my first C-41 rolls ever!

Seems to be pretty easy. I still have about 4 more rolls that I'll develop tonight but since I only have one 35mm reel for the Patterson tank, it'll be one at a time. The whole set up (not including the tank and whatnot since I already had it), was probably $40 including the C-41 kit.

My local lab charges $12 per roll for negatives only....

12 $ is a steep price. I only pay 0,99 € for a C-41 negative roll development which is quite reasonable so I haven't had the economic motivation to try it myself.

That's a great price! Even if I manage to squeeze out 20 rolls out of a Unicolor kit (I'm averaging around 12 these days $:-\$ ), that's still more than $1/roll...

It's a German chain of home electronics stores. They don't do their own development but send it to the large scale Fuji lab. The results are always good. The only "complaint" that I have is that they cut the 135 negatives into strips of four which is a little short but I really don't want to complain.

Here's mine. Sensia 100 @50, xpro'd in C41. Shot on an XA with a 3x closeup filter handheld in front of the lens, at a wacky angle because of the clamshell case

So of course the focus is off, and I had no idea what I was framing, but it's actually not too bad all considered

I'm starting to warm up to Sensia's magenta shifted xpro look. Good thing, because I have 5 more rolls of it left!

I live at the top of a big hill. Pigeons fly around by day, and bats by night.

I tried to capture the movement of the pigeons. I zone focused and used a slowish shutter speed, pressing the trigger as they passed into focus.

All guesswork, but I like the way it came out.

Expired Agfa Vista 200, Pentax Spotmatic, Mir-1B 37mm.

Well this weekend I figured i had enough colour film shot and plans to shoot more in the next month that it was worth breaking open the Rollei Colorchem C41 kit, and developing the two rolls of Portra 160 which were the only colour film I shot last year.

In Cantanhede, Portugal, where I am spending these first two months of summer, I don't have access to a film scanner. With a bit of effort, I have been able to put together enough gear and supplies to develop film but I'm down to taking snaps of the negatives with my iPhone and reversing the negatives with an app called Film Scanner Lite. (This town does have a small store that sells and processes color film, including scanning. I have a roll being processed now.) My first attempt yielded mixed results. The processing went very well. It's hard to go wrong with ID-11 for a developer, although I hope to get back to Caffenol when I track down the supplies. Unfortunately, the iPhone scans are all pretty weak, at least in focusing.

Mine is from my 30's model Agfa PD16 Clipper loaded with expired 70mm Vericolor III loaded onto a 616 spool. I guess that makes the effective speed I shot it at around iso 200-ish (1/30-ish @ f/6-ish). This is just out the back door where I work. Apologies for the dust.

I know that the thread is "over" since the weekend ended, however, I shot a roll of Portra 160 on Friday and after I developed it I noticed that the colors were very pale. I knew they'd be more "natural" and less saturated than other films, however, the skin tone of my friend came out extremely pale. I'm no Photoshop expert but you can see the result:

That is after a warming filter on PS and adjusting levels. He has tan skin. I know that light plays an important factor here but... Pretty pale, still. Tomorrow I'll be going to NJ (Jersey shore) and my girlfriend has very pale skin and I'm just afraid she'll look like Casper if I shoot her on Portra 160, and like a boiled lobster if I use Ektar 100. I'm thinking about Provia 100 for the beach+her

Any thoughts?

Hi Miguel, I like the portraits very much, congrats to your first color developings. Your "problem" is not a Portra thing, it's imho simply the best color film available, be it 160 or 400. It's a scan and/or edit problem. Try increasing the saturation and you should be there where you want to be. Negatives have to be interpreted, they aren't done with the development.
