Just bagged 10 packs of 664 black and white film for ?23

Expired in 05 and 06

I should still get some good images? (depending of course on the subject, technique, lighting blah blah blah)

Have I got a good deal?

100 shots for 23p each?

Any Polaroid film is interesting. Cheap, expired, of course more so for me... Type-664 lacks 'character', which means it is a good peel-apart performer with no major quirks.

Expired you can expect a little loss of sensitivity perhaps, and may be mis-spreading developer from it thickening - might be harder to burst pod as a result.

If it has been stored well though, it will likely perform as designed.

I think you got a good deal. As said above all Polaroid Film is interesting.
What happened in the second image happens to me intermittently when using Polaroid peel-apart film, especially when expired, but it will happen more often if your rollers are not regularly cleaned too. It's where the emulsion has not been "squeezed" onto the film when you pull it through the rollers, either through the emulsion being partly dried out, depleted or whatever happens to it as it ages.

At least I think that's whats happening. Other polaroid afficianados like Ed, Skorj and Sean might have better explanations....

I know I had similar problems with a 4x5 back. I discovered that the goop tends to thicken with time and the rollers don't put enough pressure on to spread it well. Then, I discovered a metal rolling pin (from a dismantled xerox machine). I used it like a rolling pin to spread the goop by hand. One strange effect is that it makes the crystals explode making strange snowflake shapes... if I could just remember where I put the print...
