Something for the expired film aficionados
« on: December 28, 2016, 02:58:29 AM »
Just came across this via a link in another forum. Pretty interesting to see how the different emulsions fare with age.

Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

Very interesting. Of course, now I want to go and spend all my spare cash on 1970 Ektachrome  8) ;D

One thing's for sure, I just love the black and yellow stripes on the 1977 Kodacolor II cassette!

Why can't they make fun graphics like that anymore?

I'm with you on that one, Mr Ed.  I don't mind having a bit of a tinker, occasionally, with a bit of out of date film - but only on something that won't wind me up if it comes out like a pile of arse. However, give me good quality, fresh and well-kept film for anything that I want to keep and look at repeatedly / print / post.  My photographic skills ain't that great, even with the good stuff - so why would I want to make getting decent results harder than it needs to be??

McLuhan did say that the media is the message.
So a picture shot on expired film gets the same treatment. The interestingness comes from the media used to take the photo and not what's on it....

But so far I wonder how many fails he got before showing those?

Well, I apparently had had too much coffee before typing that on my phone and not looking at it before posting.  :o
