Kodak Vision3 Reversal Film?!?!?!
« on: October 25, 2016, 12:50:54 AM »
This article about the new Kodak branding shows a box of Kodak Vision3 Reversal Super 8 film!  Vision3 is negative cine film but I wonder how they could make such a mistake or if they were trying to generate some excitement with their new Super 8 camera coming out next year.  They have mentioned being able to watch the film on a projector.  I assumed that was just some marketing person that didn't know what he was talking about.  Kodak later made a statement on Facebook about the mistake:
Quote
just a demo package, sorry for the confusion
.  Do they really make mistakes like that or are they testing the water?

I suspect that is not a real package, but an image made by some millennial at an advertising agency. That would be a"super" cool product though.

I wonder how long it will take before some wise crack decides it would be a fantastic idea to make a projector which would scan the film and use a digital projector to show the film in positive form in real time?

That would be great and the technology is available to make a projector like that but I would still prefer to use my beautiful old reliable projectors.

I agree, probably not a real package but would a millennial make a mistake like that, confusing negative with reversal?  It seems like it was done intentionally to me.

Have you noticed that they actually put the new Kodak logo on the box?

I think it came from the marketing firm that was re-designing the logo.

I know they were redesigning it and I'm quite happy with what they chose. I never liked the linear logo we've known since they went on the APS dead-end. I feel it took away rather than build on what they had accomplished before.

....or special glasses that turn the negative into a positive image?  You could hire them for a few bob as you go into the cinema.
