Weekend 30th Sept - 2nd Oct 2016
« on: September 30, 2016, 07:14:14 AM »
Last weekend I posted an image of lobster pots. This is the same location from the other side of the pots:

The past week or so I've been restoring a friend's Sanderson half-plate camera from 1910 and reconfiguring it to shoot 4x5, which ultimately required a test shot.  The lens is an Aldis Anastigmat 200/4.5 and it looks rather nice.

It was also an opp to try out some Fomapan 320 sheets I'd picked up as a freebie at Photographica earlier this year.  I made a guess on 8 minutes in DDX and that seemed fine.

I have had a first go at portraits with a large format camera. Not perfect but it is a start. Linhof master technika 4x5, Schneider 210 f5.6 wide open, Ilford HP5 processed in Ilfotec HC 1:31:

Nice shot Kevin, crab pots that just happen to have a castle in the background.

I was testing my Leitz Focaslide with a Leica IIIa and an Indstar-50 lens.  This was with the lens mounted directly to the Focaslide, no extension tubes or Intermediate Focusing Mount so it gave me 12mm of extension.  The film is Tri-X developed in Beer.

Francois,
They are so beautiful. I wish I had more of the Art Deco cameras. I am amazed at the tiny size but it works well so that's all that matters. I should have used 400 film for the overcast morning. 😊

It must be the week to test out cameras on guitars (one of my favorite test subjects). I shot the opposite end than Sandeha. I wanted to test close focusing with bellows extended on my Intrepid 4x5. FP-3000B using a Polaroid back.

Very nice shots everyone! My fave is Fluminian´s, lovely composition. And that first portrait from Rob too

I just came back from Jordan, have been there for about 6 weeks. I was ¨on duty¨, so not that many pictures (4 rollos all in all). And street photography sometimes it´s just haaard  :'(

Here are two I finally worked on from our recent Filmwasters meet-up in Queens. They are some of the few pictures that came out okay from the two rolls that I forgot to push:

A couple 4x5 paper negative tests with boring shots of the Bushwick Community Darkroom made slightly less boring by being put into postive-negative diptychs

Got 8 holders loaded with pre-flashed paper, ready to go take real pictures.

I know this is a bit late but I actually shot and processed this on Saturday! Here are the details:

Here's my first 4x5 photo I've captured since photography class in college. I used a Travelwide 4x5, a super lightweight and portable 4x5 camera I kickstarted a couple years back that had been gathering dust in my office until recently, and an Ilex-Calumet Field Caltar 90mm f/8 lens borrowed from work. The film is New55's Atomic-X ISO 100 4x5 Panchromatic Sheet Film and I developed it in a makeshift tray in my film changing bag with New55's R5 Monobath. The single development monobath is a bit crude and introduced some aberrations in the negative that I cleaned up a bit in post, but all in all I consider it a success.
