Okay, background: I'm looking for examples showing lightleaks from upening the lid on a development tank and those times when you see traces of sprockets (light hitting film when loading in spiral for tank?)

basically, trying to explain these to a friend:

(red channel seems gone on parts of the roll, like right part of this frame. or is he just compensating for the leaked part and the rest gets left in the dust?)

any clues?

But eh, while we're at it let's make this a nice collection of happy accidents and utter disasters

I'd be glad if it was only once

but huh, some sprocket traces there...

that reminds me of my formerly leaky Polaroid ee100s

fp3000b + leaky bellows + lit snowscape = bad idea.

That's definitely one of the best unintentional light leaks I've seen! Here's a couple of my own:

And here's one that has sentimental value ... my first roll of film after getting "back into film", probably a good 20 or more years since even touching a film camera ... and I forgot how to rewind the film so I ended up popping open the film door on this last picture in the roll. Luckily, it was a dark club and I closed the door right away, but not before I got this little goodie:

I've mostly grown up and use cameras that don't give me light leaks

I left this roll sitting in a holga for a couple months then just took it out and loaded it in my mamiya 7 at the time.

One of my favorite mistakes ever. Forgot there was film in the K1000 and opened the back. I shut it immediately and I wasn't in direct sun, so I was hoping something would at least come out. There were several with funky color shifts and sprocket holes. This one was my favorite:

If I remember correctly, I did saturate (but not adjust) the colors just a hair - otherwise this is unaltered.

So far I have not exposed film during development but I'm sure it will happen eventually. I did recently have the door to my View-Master camera pop open and expose some of the film. I got lucky, that camera shoots the top half of the film roll first then the bottom half as it winds back into the cartridge. I was on the last few frames so only lost a few shots. Now I gaffer tape the latch.

When I first purchased my Pentax K1000 it still had a roll of film in it. I shot the rest of that roll to test the camera. I have since repaired the light seal on the door. I like this shot because it looks like the cormorant is using the light leak to dry it's wings.

colored lightleaks? aren't they usually warm because they're tinted by the orange base? (like redscale, eh?)

anyway, the first shot from my friend has got an explanation. he was rolling film into an old casette and the top of the cartridge popped off

35mm in the Holga WPC120 is some serious field of view, did you use one of those convert-35mm-cartridge-to-120-roll-adapter that are flooding ebay right now?

Based on the suggestion of a fellow "frugal" Filmwaster, I just used 2 styrofoam peanuts on he top and the bottom to wedge it in place. Worked like a charm

Hey, I'm enjoying this thread a lot. Some lovely images here and light leaks are a subject close to my heart photographically speaking. I don't have access to any of my archive currently as I'm embroiled in a emotionally distressing

"giving up my hobby room so my daughter can have her own bedroom" situation (heck, who'd have thought an 18 year would need her own room*?!) and all my external drives are in storage. But Flickr does have a few examples (see below). Most of them are as a result of me opening the back of whichever 35mm Pentax SLR I was using back then (2007). We were in Marrakech and the light was pretty intense, but I got some images out of it anyway.

More light leaks, please people!!

Great Wall DF-2 leaks a lot. Red windows have faded to yellow.

Pilot 6 leaks a little bit through the red windows. If I'm careful I can avoid it entirely.

From my most recent filmswap with lanolan:

Both leaks are on the left edge of his frames (they're upside down because I oriented them to my redscale frames), so I'm blaming his camera

Luckily, these are the only 2 frames with lightleaks, so maybe it was an improperly closed door that he rectified quickly

Mmmmm... Bessa II. Light leak or not, that is a nice camera.

Not sure if this one came from the camera, the film cartridge or the dev tank, but there it is. It could of course be an artifact of Satish's film which was reportedly stored in a satchel on the sunny side of a bad tempered camel in the Negev Desert from 5/87 - 12/92. This was followed by storage/transport in the desk drawer of an officer on a Russian nuclear sub, being thrown overboard near the Jersey Shore during "maneuvers" in 2001. Not sure if Satish found it himself or bought it from FPP, but somehow I got it and took a picture of a car with it.

I gotta say, I have a very weird pop culture knowledge, that has large gaps particularly between 1984 and 2000. I often find it hard to speak to my real-life friends and even Facebook contacts because of this, but for some reason I find that FW seems to share all my (limited) pop culture knowledge

I've got some light leaks on top of bromide drag (remind me not to do stand development with sprocket holes). This was a test roll in my new KMZ FT-2 Panoramic camera which are notorious for light leaks. They can be overcome with a little work, I've ordered the materials I will need to fix some of the leaks. I can't wait to make the repairs and use this camera again.

Just as an aside, I never have problems with bromide drag as long as the total dev time is under 1.5 hours and I invert at least once halfway through. When I stand dev, I use either Rodinal 1:100 or HC110 1:100. What is your stand dev scheme?

No, that definitely looks like bromide drag to me. Maybe it's the film? Have you stand-developed this filmstock before with good results?

This was definately my first time with this film. It's Fjifilm Acros 100, I usually shoot Kodak or Ilford.
