Easter weekend 3. - 5. April
« on: April 03, 2015, 09:08:12 AM »
Today we're on holiday here, so it's a pleasure to start the weekend thread with my new photographic passion.

Taken with the Colorpack II on 2 years expired FP-100c, the paper positive looks fine as it should and the rescued negative adds a special flavour. Thanks M. for being my "instant" model.

Great start guys!
As Fluminian is not posting a boat this week, I feel someone has to.  ;)

Great start. I particularly like Manuel's contributions. What camera and film was used?

Thanks a lot Rob. I used a Speed Graphic with a Leitz Hektor 120mm F2.5 Projector lens. The lens doesn't cover 4x5 (more like 6x7). I think one of the reasons is the lens tube, which is very long behind the last lens group. I will try to cut it off and see if I can turn the lens into a fast wide angle LF lens. The Film was Kodak, Tmax 100.

Manuel, I really like that boathouse shot. Very nicely done.

Already many nice shots this weekend, liked Manuel´s house in the lake, Rob´s and Kaisan´s second one. From my side two with the instax wide which is dragging me to the point and shoot world, specially after being painfully slow with my rollei 2.8  :'(

Great shots everyone!  Irv_b, I don't know how they do things in GB but here in the US we put our boats in the water, love those shots anyway.

All I have this week is a pinhole of a blender.  This is a 2 hour exposure shot with a Voightlander 116 Roll film camera converted to a pinhole.  Ilford Delta 100 Semi-Stand developed in Adonal (Rodinal) 1-100 for about 1 hour.

Another great and interesting mix this weekend.  My faces are by Ojo, DcAnalogue (post some details about yourself on the intros thread, mate) and ManuelL.

Mine is a shot where I hit the release button fractionally before I'd got the shot properly framed and in focus. At Ravenglass (Cumbrian coast) at the end of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway.  It's a 15" gauge - now used as a tourist attraction - and replaced the 30" gauge which used to take slate and ore from mines in the Lake District to the coast.

Flowers-Acros-100-Rodinal-1_50 by adoephoto, on Flickr

Having not shot much at all in the past month I was dying to shoot but had little time with which to do so. Last weekend presented an entire half hour so I scooped up my Crown Graphic, tripod and some holders filled with Acros, Fp4 and some Ortho Litho and made the trek out to our front garden where I shot as frenetically as large format allows. Managed to shoot twelve shots by the time I was done by shooting each shot twice. Once on regular film, the second on Ortho Litho. Last night I developed some of the Acros as well as some older Acros shots. This is the first one scanned. Scanned in two batches and stitched (not such a good job at stitching this time, I'm afraid). The downside is that flowers are not amongst my favorite subjects. The upsides are that I got to shoot and develop and that I am prepared with a fresh shot for a future flower foul.

Another Olympus XA4 shot, this time on Kodak Gold 200. I wasn't thrilled with the way the color looked (probably more a scanning issue than anything else), so I desaturated it - it works better in monochrome anyway.

Some ten years back I had an optician in Singapore create a couple of meniscus lenses for a 6x6 camera, but I finally got around to putting the 175/5.6 onto the new Surveyor with the Packard shutter.  This is just a test shot with some Era 100; (or is it Shanghai 100, I forget). Hardly ideal as subject matter, but it seems reasonable. Time to buy another bottle of Rodinal, I think.

Nice shots folks.

I am usually pretty good at getting my rolls through my cameras but I just finished a roll in my XA that I did not realize was from the summer. While I had some good times this winter, this pic reminded me that I am looking forward to getting back into the woods soon!

It's been a long weekend here so I'm posting one more.  This one shot with the 125/4.5 meniscus lens on the 4x5 Surveyor with a Packard shutter.

If you're interested, this is an unfinished chess set.  It's one of two sets that I cast in pewter in 1994, though this one remains only partly finished.  For £500 it can be yours, silver and black colours on a tan leather chessboard.

After an image search on Google it looks like they have similar displays in all their stores.  They are pretty amazing displays, makes me wonder how all that weight doesn't pull the wall down.
