It is funny that both 'babies' are quite old babies... "And this is my little darling, 'Cello' - we pronounce is with a 'C H.' She is 13,345 and a half months old."

I'm not sure why you'd need the drug - putting a tripod-mounted camera in a swing or sliding a cello down a slide would both seem pretty effective forms of birth control....
Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

That RB67 with the prism head must equal the weight of triplets!

We met a professional cellist on Saturday evening, his cello was worth £150k and his bow £20k!! I'd be frightened to play it!
When people ask what equipment I use - I tell them my eyes.

That's pretty cheap for a bow ... I thought that oftentimes string players' bows were more expensive than the instrument itself? I know I'd have no qualms about paying more for a mouthpiece than a full trumpet (if I hadn't already been gifted a mouthpiece by the principal of the NYC Ballet :) )

Cheaper than raising a child.

And that's for a non-string-playing child.

I was half hoping the bow would have been cheaper - like me carrying a £600 lens on a £10 SLR body.   8)

That sentence, taken out of context, could tell a whole other story.

That's actually an excellent analogy ... the cello (or trumpet) only amplifies the sound ... which is actually produced by the bow/mouthpiece. Like the lens transmits the image to the body, which simply captures it. To bring the analogy one step farther, the REAL sound is produced by the hand/lips, like the REAL image is captured by the photographer's eye. Everything else is just gear.

Why have kids when you can have expensive breakable stuff?

Photographers and musicians shouldn't be allowed to procreate.

I must admit that a camera or a cello can be boring when compared to kids.
They don't bring home the flu, gastro or the common cold. They don't get dirty by themselves. They don't spill grapejuice all over the sofa...
But on the other hand, they don't giggle and laugh. They don't say stupid things that make you smile. You can't show them stupid tricks. You can't put them to bed and kiss them goodnight. They don't give you the chance to become a superhero by chasing the monster under the bed. They don't help you with tools when you do plumbing. You can't teach them to build a pinhole camera. You can't teach them how to ride a bike....

When you think about it, cameras and cellos can be quite boring in a way.

You can kiss your trumpet good night, that would be a little odd but you can do it.  ;D
