Well, that felt good.
« on: December 22, 2014, 03:39:56 AM »
Today was the first day that I attempted to sell any of my photographic work. My friend was hosting a holiday art sale at his studio. I and about  dozen other artists, mostly photographers, set up tables with our work. I would have been thrilled if I had sold one, but by days end I had sold six framed prints. I had 15 prints on my table and of the six that I sold three were pinhole images (for the pinholenistas amongst us who are keeping score). I felt really good knowing that people liked my work enough to purchase it. That they were mostly fellow photographers made me feel even better.

Well done. I think I've sold one print (ever) but that was very rewarding.

Having spent an entire weekend on a stall in London and sold none this is a great result. Excellent.

Well done indeed.  Have you got scans of the photos that you sold?

More importantly, it looks like either you or someone you know plays a Danelectro guitar  8) Very nice indeed. I have a Danelectro bass, but a guitar is on my wishlist.

So when are we going to see an Ed Shred vs. Big D battle of the basses?  ;D

Ed, Truth be told, I'm a drummer masquerading as a guitarist. I can do ok playing rhythm just don't look at me for anything other than very rudimentary leads. And I love Danelectros. Bought my first about 16 years ago. It was dirt cheap so I went back and got a second the next day. Then a few years later I picked up the one you see in the shot as well as a matching short scale bass (should have gotten the full scale).

Here they are on Fujifilm FP-100C (the purple was the first one then went back to get the green):

IMHO, the short scale Dano basses have a deep, rich, and unique sound that can almost out-P-bass a P bass. I've been "passively" looking out for a vintage Longhorn bass for a while. The newer reissues don't quite cut it...

But speaking of reissues, I have a 90s reissue Dano 12-string that sounds amazing. Would highly recommend it :)
