Do it

It took me about 150 feet to figure out how to make this film sing. But this film is quite capable. It can be shot at 1600, 800, 400, 250. I haven't tried pulling it but I would assume it could do that as well, however it would be flat. I think that Hungry Mike's half frames shot with his Pen at 1600 look even better than my "full frame" 1600 shots. However, my 1600 shots are still impressive for such a push.

The shots above were at 200 with an orange filter. The film normally is quite flat when developed properly and I find the orange adds a little punch while bringing the speed into a usable daylight area for me.

If it's fresh XX I would jump on it. Beware though that XX has been around for some time and there are expired canisters floating around.

I was gifted 2 rolls of it from FPP. The first one had an insert, the second did not.

Do you really need inserts? I suppose the innermost bit of film would get mangled by the loader's center post, but that's a pretty small loss. I was thinking of rolling up 100' of the Dacomatic around a cardboard tube like at the center of a roll of aluminum foil, cut down to 35mm.

I haven't tried the XX, but it is on my short list along with 500T 5219.

James, I got some of both (XX & 500T 5219) if you need them. PM me for a trade.

Regarding inserts, it is a bit of a drag but I've rerolled the 400 feet of Dacomatic without much effort in a dark bag. It is much thinner film compared to the XX. I've also done the 500T which is thicker then XX.  You could use a paper tube but I picked up some used film cans that had the old empty reels in them that I've reused.

The amount of snacks I've sent has often been incorrectly credited as my doing.

I have never sent "cookies" but yes on biscuits! ;-)  it may seem like i sent a lot of items, but often times many episodes are recorded back to back and sometime out of order.

Ed, Maybe i'll send you some american breakfast cereal full of sugar with some bright cartoon mascot plastered on the carton!

Maybe an idea for the next exchange, let's say a print and cookie circle...  send a print along with a pack of your fav cookies. In the netherlands we have stroopwafels....   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stroopwafel
