Topic: Camera Valuations

I am thinking of selling a number of cameras that I own as I no longer really use them.  These are high end cameras and lenses so I really want to to make sure I don't sell them too cheap. 

Does anyone know of a site or place where I can find out how much these cameras sell for? I tend to find that using  eBay searches gives too a wide range of prices to give me an idea of what the right price is.  All my cameras are in good condition.

Preferably a UK site as that is where I am based.

I'd be interested in seeing your suggestions.

I think Ebay is going to give you the most data using and advanced search of sold items in your area.  At least that way you can see what they wrote about the condition since that drives the price more than anything with cameras.  I wouldn't totally write off Ebay, that's probably where most used cameras are bought and sold these days.

I've sold expensive gear through Ffordes give realistic valuations and take commission on the sale price which (at the time) did not work out much different from the costs of an eBay listing and Paypal charges. If you contact them they will arrange a courier for your equipment, examine it and give their view of its value. If you don't like what you hear then you can always try selling it elsewhere.

seeing what the cameras sell for on KEH.com is also a pretty good indicator
your private sale would likely be less than the prices they show

In fact as I have typed it, here is what I was going to say 

Francois, that collectiblend site is cool. I will use in the future. I will likely continue to have a look at KEH, if for no other reason than to determine when to stop bidding on Ebay items. Frequently, for some reason, some ebay items sell for more than just buying at K&H.

Given that a) they offer a reasonable return policy, and b) their grading of stuff is quite good, in most cases they represent the absolute upper end of what stuff is worth - but as I said stuff regularly sells for higher than it costs just to buy it from  them.

Their prices seem to fall in line with the collectiblend prices. For example, I am always eyeing YashicaMats and they are listing a 124G* for $265 in ex cond which is in the range for a "very good" to "mint" price on collectiblend.
