Thanks from me too. I wasn't previously aware of this site. The free postage over £10 makes a big difference too

Thank you for the link.

My birthday later this month, so Mrs LD now knows where to shop for the pressie..... ;)

I'm also going to order some Ilford Delta 100 and 400.  Can't remember ever trying it before.  I quite like the idea of low grain and lots of tonal separation.

Not so keen on the delta 400, but delta 100 is a stunning film.

Okay, so the savings were too good to miss, so on top of the 5 boxes of inkjet baryta, I've ordered 4 boxes of 4x5 hp5+ and 2 boxes of MGFB WT. Hot-Diggetty-Dang etc.

Hi Leon.

What is it about the Delta 400 that rules it out for you? Given your penchant for (and extensive use of) Ilford products, I'd be genuinely interested as I might just get some HP5+ to compare it against.

put quite untechnically, i dont like the fluffy grain and its contrast curve just isnt very nice. I probably never gave it enough time to get the right developer etc, but I always got better results with HP5+. Im not really a fan of any of the t-grain films, the grain in the older emulsions just gives the film a sharpness that you dont get with t-max or delta films.

That said, if grainless is your thing, 120 delta 100 at about ei 80 in perceptol 1:2 or 1:3 is as fine as you get these days, even in the old days, you needed something special like tech=pan to beat it imo

I'm not such an aficionado as yourself but I will keep an eye out for the fluffy grain and the contrast curve.  I can probably tweak it to taste in LR4 if needs be.  It's funny you should mention grainless and Technical Pan as I was having a mooch around evilbay earlier and spotted some.  Long time since I've shot any of that stuff.  I'm not really on an anti-grain crusade, just fancied having a look at lower grain / more modern emulsion to see if I like it / prefer it to Tri-X and XP2 Super.

i think you'll like delta 100. It's hard not to. Really good in Rodinal too. Smooth and crisp.

FYI - the website is having issues due to increased traffic!

They get your order but payment keeps failing  - either the ard or paypal.  they put my order through over the phone.

So much for film being "dead" - especially when it's being discounted....!!  :o
