Pretty cool set of hybrid photos of London
« on: February 26, 2014, 08:10:17 PM »
Combinations of historical and modern photos. Amazing how little has changed.

Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

Amazing. Pretty much the opposite of NYC (I recently saw a similar before-and-after series on NYC, but I can't be arsed to look it up right now  :) )

The NYC ones were stupid for some reason.  These I like

These are really well done, it's true.

Great link. Very interesting. I like the 'new take on an old chestnut' approach to this project:

I'm amazed by the quality difference in these shots. I presume one is digital and one is film. The old shots have so much more life and depth to them. The light seems richer in the older photos, and my good the digital one looks horrendously flat and dull! Love the idea though! It might be interesting doing something like this in my current hometown, I know there was some amazing old buildings here back in the day. Sadly many of them are gone due to a big fire in 1888. Of course I would do mine on film as well :)

if you ever get to go to the Museum of London its great, much quieter and less busy than the Science/NHM/VA
and free!

Maybe it's just because our lives have become flat and dull?

Film is the vinyl record of photography.
