Any Dundonians on here?
« on: September 25, 2013, 06:12:11 PM »
Not sure if it`s ok to post this kind of posts on here (pleas remove it if it`s against the regulations)
I just moved to Scotland and to Dundee to finish my MSc in Design Ethnography, packing light I did not allow my self to bring much gear. Took me under a week before I just had to, Yashica Mat in the bag now  ;)  Now for the big question, do I have any fellow filmwasters in Dundee? The Photo soc. at Uni. was not my kettle of fish and I have access to a nice Imacon and a darkroom trough my department. Is there anyone out there in Dundee?

Hi Aksel.

Congratulations on arriving in one of the best places on earth.

I lived in Perth (just down the road) for 5 years before work necessitated a move to the SE of England in 1999. There isn't a day goes by when I don't miss living up there. It doesn't have the most spectacular scenery in Scotland and Dundee city centre can be "interesting" late on Friday / Saturday nights but you have to spend some time mooching around the East Neuk of Fife coastline from Newburgh to Kirkcaldy (pronounced Ker-coddy) just to see the likes of St. Andrews, Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem, St. Monans, Elie and Leven.

Then you've got the Road from Perth northwards (A9) to Dunkeld, Pitlochrie and Blair Athol where the Grampians / Cairngorms rise.

Good luck in your search for FWs in the area. Make best use of your time there if it's not a permanent move. It's also the home of Golf.....

So far only had a good look at the "interesting" parts of Dundee. Point, shoot and walk fast  ;)
That said, there seams to be a lot happening in and around town of more eehmm - cultivated? things to participate in as well.
Many thanks for the advice on places to see!
I will try to get out and about as much as I can, Dundee looks like a really great starting point and not far away from a lot of interesting sites. I`m only staying a year so I`ll have to be efficient.
