just another pinhole...nothing more, nothing less
« on: August 14, 2013, 04:48:20 PM »
I converted an old non working Agfa Viking folder to pinhole some time ago and just got around to using and testing it.

I kinda like it.

expired Ilford photo paper for a negative, 30 seconds exposure and then marinated in caffenol for 4 minutes.

The shutter is part of a magnetic business card cut to fit the front.
I have to use it in the folded position (it's cemented in this config) and the pinhole is installed where the tripod socket was.
Spray painted the inside flat black and the outside metallic black.
thanks for looking!

I really like this moody slightly spooky image.

And out of the belly of an old broken camera! Wonderful!

:D

Pretty nice :)
I don't know how many of these Ansco Viking folders were made but they seem to pop everywhere!
I have two. One is intact and the other one had a busted shutter that was essentially rusted shut. So I opened the shutter, removed some parts, modified others and made a folding pinhole. It's been sitting there for years and I still haven't got around to try it.

Neat camera strap! Darn clever idea for a shutter too.

I have a couple of broken Kodak folders that took 116 film, the bellows were like lace curtains and both had broken support arms. I remounted the lenses for my 4X5 and they will cover without too much falloff at f16 and smaller. The bodies sit in my junk box. Looks like I could rig the body to take 120 film and use them as a pinhole wide angle camera. Or put a septum in the middle, two pinholes and make a pinhole stereo.
