Topic: Pentax 67ii joins the Family

I was looking for this camera for a few months and I found it as in "new/unused condition" Everything works as intended but I red about the film advance problem and I'd like to know how to prevent any damage

Any recommendation on using this beauty?

I can't wait to take it on the street and pray for keepers...

Looks a beauty.

I just bought a 67 & 75mm a couple of days ago. The shop suggested not to let the film advance lever flick back after the forward stroke but to slow it down with your thumb.

EDIT: Oh and probably a bad idea to turn the take-up spool 'backwards' when loading film - only wind it forwards with the lever until the slot is in the right position.

Otherwise I'm still familiarising myself with it.

What a beautiful camera! I always wanted it, but just couldn't find one affordable enough.

I paid $1,030 for the following items:

- Camera (body and prism) (never used)
- SMC Pentax 67 105mm F/2.4 (new)
- SMC Pentax 67 55mm F/4 (new)
- Flash Pentax AF 400T with two cords (new)
- Cable release (new)
- 77mm HOYA Circular Polarizer (new)
- 77mm HOYA UV filter (new)
- 67mm Tiften UV filter (new)
- Camera Bag Lowepro Stealth Reporter 400AW (like new)
- Genuine Pentax camera strap

It was a sweet deal and I'm extremely happy on how the camera feels on the hands

Today I had my first approach with this camera and I loved it. I shoot three kids (5 and 2 yo) at the park so figure that out. All handheld of course, HP5 400.

I had to laugh. That thing goes to the streets and you might get a keeper, but the real shot would be the one after you've taken the shot and people are looking back at you to find out what that racket was!

You're right! I'll keep that in mind and bring a ziploc bag to minimize the sound.

Ha, ha, I still remember last year holidays with the Pentax 67 and two lenses, and my baby on a back pack... 

The nice thing about the Pentax 67 is that it can be shot hand held, and it works just fine, very nice action oriented camera when required (you can throw it to whoever is attacking you  )

I feel the pain... literally 

I bought one last year and 2 lenses - loved it and really liked the look of the images I'd get from it. But far too heavy for me and my back.... and I couldn't afford any more the mounting chiropractor's bills, so I sold it. Still, a great camera and you'll enjoy it.

The nice thing about the Pentax 67 is that it can be shot hand held, and it works just fine, very nice action oriented camera when required (you can throw it to whoever is attacking you  )

I really like the camera and how it handles. It's not lightweight but it's not that heavy. Of course is not a camera to carry the whole day but the outcome from this beauty worth every ounce. I always carry one lens with my cameras (Olympus OM-1n, Rolleicord Vb and Yashica 14E) the 55mm F/4 is huge but nice piece of glass. I was shooting my family over the weekend and I loved the camera, it;s a keeper.

a few theory. it's frequently a heavyweight due to a couple of things.

1. grips, 6x7, 6x7mu, and 67 built-in grip is unsubstantial. Have optional left hand wood grip. 67ii have built-in a grip on the right, but can still attach a left grip.
B: finder prism are the most popular common option. need to raise the entire camera to eye level. while other cameras with the same weight use more popular waist level finders.

I wouldn't worry about the weight of the camera. Hefty camera is less prone to shaking.

My Pentax 67 with a metered prism, custom made right hand wood grip, and 55mm lens (most recent version), goes up to a remarkable weight of 2.650kg, which is at the same league of the Mamiya RB67 if I am not mistaken...

I was hunting for a while until this one showed up and I'm truly delighted with this camera. It's a different experience than my Rolleicord Vb, Olympus OM-1n and Yashica 14E, not to mention the 6x7 negative. I just got the lens hoods for both my lenses (105 & 55) so I'm expecting better contrast with my next roll.

I just weighted and for the 67II + AE prism + 55mm F4 + (Lens hood & strap)! = 7.5 lbs = 3.4 kg!
