I'd like to think they would not.  But, at the same time, it did create a mess and cost money to deal with.

We can thank all the nut jobs in this world for the hassles over something that would not have drawn a second glance back when.

Seriously, if i saw a box taped to a bridge and didn't know what it was, i would probably just open it and see.

I guess the gaffer tape gives a "scary dangerous device" look... no one would probably bother if was wrapped up with some sort of flower decorated wrapping paper!

With a bit of thought before the event, it's predictable that this might happen. However, prosecuting under what law?

Yikes! I hope someone doesn't have the same reaction to the cameras I have positioned around..Maybe they should have put up a note saying "pinhole camera in use" but then someone would have questioned what a pinhole camera is or something equally frustrating!

Is this the start of a "Make Pinhole Cameras not Bombs" campaign?

And here I am standing in front of my kitchen window carefully pouring a strange brown liquid into a measuring graduate....

I think they were just looking for an excuse to get dressed up and play with their fancy bomb robot!

What a sad reflection of the times we live in. Folks here are now supposed to let the local airports/airbases know if they're letting off more than 10 chinese lanterns, so as to ensure they're interpreted correctly on radar. I hope we don't get to the stage where we have to let the local police/bomb-squad know when/where we're leaving pinhole cameras or solargraphy cans...

Though that's definitely the safest way to avoid trouble... that is if you can get an actual permit for that.

If we make them obvious, then people want to take or mess with them.  If we make them blend in, then they are afraid it is a bomb.

Seems like it gets harder and harder to just take a picture.
