Film base for lomo tiger?
« on: January 31, 2013, 06:44:58 PM »
Does anyone know what the film stock is for this? I have heard rumor that a lot of their colour film is ferrania.

I am asking as silverfast scanning software can let you set colour profiles and it does help. I am happy with these little negs but they need all the help they can get :-)

in silverfast, can you batch process through the different profiles to save you doing it manually? arrange the images in a matrix together and see what springs out?

I still rate Agfa Vista plus 200 for picking out the hues of clay in brick work...don't laugh haha, I know it's cheap but who said fun has to be expensive ;)

Ya I was thinking of doing something like that. There are quite a few options tho (but a lot of them are not likely candidates - such as agfa)

That is my plan B if i can't find the info out. I might take some studio picks of a colour chart or something.

Hi there. In case there are any other Tiger users out there I did get a response from lomo. I was told to use the Kodak Gold 200 or a Ferrania profile -- I am not at my scanner now but I will give these a try.

Not to hijack my own thread,  ::) but Ferrania is not producing film any more, right?

I used Silverfast for years and really liked it. Stopped for one reason or another, but when I was using it I rarely ended up choosing the profile which matched the film (even when there was one). I just cycled through them until I got something which looked like the scene had in real life....or which just looked good. With b/w I always used the generic 25ASA (I think) setting because that seemed to keep the most information on the neg (the initial scan would be very grey, but it gave you loads to work with in Photoshop).

My fave use of Silverfast however, was scanning colour slide film as monochrome to get some lovely muted colours.

Thanks guys. Ed I just started using it after tintin bugged me to give it a try. I really do like it but I can also understand why someone would not use it. Installing it can be a nightmare and it has one of the least intuitive interfaces. We have it in our student labs and our official solution is to use the Epson software as it is easiest. I will play with the profiles as u suggested. The images you posted look slick, I will give that a try.
