110 film
« on: September 18, 2012, 02:34:27 PM »
Just a heads up for US members who want to use their 110 cameras. The Four Corners Dark store is selling both color and B&W 110 film at $7.99 each for a 24 exp roll. It's that Fukkatsu brand, whatever that is, probably from China. Don't know if it's available from a UK supplier yet.

The catch of course is processing. Labs are closing and C-41 processing is being discontinued as machines age and, I assume, become unserviceable. B&W can be done at home and will survive but some people still want color also and increasingly will have to send it out, pay a lot, and wait 2 or 3 weeks.

I just tried out the Lomography ISO 200 Color Tiger firms (from China) with my Kodak Ekralite 500 and Demekin Fisheye cameras.  Its' color, grain & latitude are good and can print acceptable 5X7s.  My local custom lab (The Lab in Vancouver) still provide C41 processing and a contact sheet.  The hardest part was printing the images.  None of the local photo labs get the 110 setup anymore, so I have to scan the negatives and print from there.
Addicted to Kodachrome, Medium Formats, Polaroid, Russian lenses and big shinny objects.

what they dont tell you is that their machines can do 110 and 120 apperantly for 1 hour. I was not aware of this until only recently.

As a somewhat humorous aside, fukkatsu is Japanese for "revival" or "comeback".
