Adox is releasing a new film!



NEW AT PHOTOKINA 2012:

ADOX SILVERMAX


SILVERMAX has an increased silver-content compared to regular films.
This enables him to built up twice as much DMAX and reproduce up to 14 zones in our dedicated SILVERMAX Developer.
This way SILVERMAX catches it all for you: brightest highlights and deepest shaddows.
SILVERMAX is incredibly sharp due to it´s anti-halation layer between the emulsion and the base.
The detail contrast is enhanced by this as well.
SILVERMAX features an extremely fine grain, comparable to tabular-crystal films.
His speed and covering effect comes from the high silver content.
SILVERMAX is coated onto clear triacetate and can be reversal processed.

Made in Germany.

Remark: Because of it´s high production price per sqm of coated material SILVERMAX is only available as a 35mm film and will not be manufactured in other formats.

I've always liked the Adox brand and I'm happy they're actually releasing stuff in times like this...

I quick checked their website after reading this post and I just found out about their 20 ISO film!... quite interesting stuff and worth reading the data about it.

14 stop range!
I don't know how well it will print but that's quite some latitude. Almost like HDR on film...

Kodak's 5219 motion stock will give you 14 stops too.  But what strikes me here is that this seems to reaffirm the assertion posted elsewhere on the FW site earlier--that Adox (AKA Efke) production is moving to Germany, not going away.  This is supremely good news; thanks Jonas!  Guess I didn't have to stock up on that Efke...

Terry not sure what film you bought...

Adox is photoimpex based in germany and Efke is fotokemika based in croatia. Most of Adox branded films are made by fotokemika. Not too long ago Adox (photoimpex) film was only distributed in Germany. That is not the situation currently. So in some places with both Adox and Efke films... they are the same, bit not all Adox films are from fotokemika and as they are starting to make their own. So when fotokemika stops Adox will loose a majority of their dist films.

The only reason this is sometimes confusing is that before fotokemika used the Efke brand, they used the Adox brand.

it is noice to see Adox producing more films.

maybe it is the likes of Adox and Ilford that we should all be
supporting more and more and moving away from Kodak
who are only seeking to reduce the film output or ranges.

tkmedia:  I'm in the New York area and can buy both Adox and Efke.  It may be a bit optimistic but I hope that Fotoimpex may expand their line if we film users support them. 

On another note, do you know if Orwo is still producing films?

old Orwo dead about 1994 after German reunification, Orwo AG was formed but few years later failed. It was later divisions split up and privatized. Film part became Filmotec, mostly specialize in industrial b&w cine film. currently i dunno.

This isn't produced on EFKE machinery, probably done by invisicoat or filmotec. Adox coated a small run of 400 Pan on old Agfa test equipment owned by invisicoat.
Whatever method they used it's good to see another conventional cubic film.

14 zones sounds terrific, but I am a little wary of needing a specialised developer.

It'll work in other developers too. Just that their developer is optimized for the emulsion.

iirc Adox Fine Print Variotone paper was made with harmon (and Moersch?). You are correct utopia the silvermax is not made by fotokemika (efke).
