Anyone tried to bid on the Leica?
« on: May 13, 2012, 04:45:37 PM »
I don't know if you've seen this on the news but yesterday, there was a Leica-0 on the auction block in Austria. It was a 1923 pre-production model. It had no serial number. It is said that there were only 25 ever made. And only half of that are still around to this day. The camera was in working condition and sold for a puny 2.8 million US dollars!

holy crap! Sounds like this should be a museum piece. Its really cool to think that these cameras are still owned by private parties. I hope the guy who bought it puts a couple rolls through it before putting it into some vacuum sealed glass box or something.

Shame it raised so little. They obviously should have used the word, "Lomo" in the listing title to push the price up.

 ;) :D

Now, I wonder what a pre-production prototype of the LCA would fetch?

If it did, it's probably one of those never ever ready cases (a.k.a. museum glass display case).

Well, there is still a $10,000 Polaroid 185 on ebay if you have a couple extra bucks...
