Introduding...
« on: March 29, 2012, 01:56:38 AM »
I dont see many introduction posts for new members but here i go.

hello all. im a motion graphics designer in my midish 20s. Ive been shooting for about 9 or 10 years on the film. All self taught, i didnt go to school because i thought it would be hard to get great work unless i was some prodigy. So i copped out and went into broadcasting, then specialized for post production, then got a job doing motion graphics and ive been doing that for a few years.

all this time ive been shooting 35mm. I havent dabbled much with medium format, though im playing with a yashica 44a running 35mm through that. Not sure if that counts. Anyways..

Im a fan of using old crappy cameras, usually ones that have broken features or are on the verge of needing a CLA. I find making some piece of junk make a nice image challenging and rewarding. However in my "lineup" if you want to call it that i have my trusty Leica IIIa screwmount, Nikon EM and FG-20 SLRs, and a couple lomo cameras that arent pieces of junk. In the junk pile i have some SLRs, praktica, pentax, and some old rangefinders. Unfortunately i love them all, working or not. My apartment space doesnt like that though.

Im writing a novel, i do apologize. Anyways I'll link up a couple images. Looking forward to learning more and more about photography and such. I took a break from it while i was at school and starting work but now i want to get back into it full on!

A test shot initially with the Yashica 44a, on some old superia i got bulk expired in 2001

LC-A+ with the included 100 color neg it comes with

Nikon FG-20 with some Delta 3200 on a boat cruise

Feel free to check out www.jmchadillon.com for some more photo stuff, and more motion stuff ive done!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I should be uploading some contributions soon as i found some tricks with my nikons that may or may not help out a night shooter.

Love it that you love wrecked cameras.

Its sad but true, Im usually the guy that jumps at the chance to get someones old SLR that they never use.

TinTin, I really think this is your place! Wrecked people and cameras all together  ;D

Really nice shots by the way, and impressive film career, I just started to shoot with cameras 6 years ago.. and I am in my fourties...  :'( Is that the age when photographers start to say, Ooohh, I changed to autofocus because my eyes are not what they used to be.

Welcome to the site  - be sure to take a spin around all the areas - guest galleries, collaboration galleries, and of course the other forums boards - especially the 'read this first' threads on the housekeeping board.

I think you're going to fit in well.  To paraphrase another member here, this is probably the only place where you can talk about your holga or horizon, leica or linhof and everyone will be interested. We're proud to have zero camera snobbery :)

Looking forward to seeing more pics.

A warm welcome TT.

My son is just about to go to university to study film & television. He too is massively into 'analogue' using Super 8, 16mm and his trusty Holga. He's also rapidly becoming a connoisseur of vinyl records... much to the dismay of my wallet  ;)

Bonjour TinTin!

Like Becky, I'm pretty happy to see another fan of lo-fi on the site.

As for intro threads, we have some... I'm pretty much the only one who didn't bother writing one at the time :)

Yes, welcome. But to make it quite clear we have no snobbery for Zero cameras either!

You'll like it here TinTin, everybody's normal which is, as I've discovered not usual in most fourms.

Phil, I really must get round to taking a self portrait, as it's just come to my attention that I don't have any of me, no one wants to take my picture these days. (maybe their trying to tell me something)
