Impromptu collaboration?
« on: October 15, 2011, 07:30:08 PM »
Came across a great idea earlier (admittedly from a couple of years ago)

http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/gallery/2009/mar/26/4am-project-photography-travel?INTCMP=ILCNETTXT3487#/?picture=344990175&index=1

How about doing something similar on 11th November this year 11/11/11

Maybe could do something like "take a photo at 11am GMT on 11/11/11"  That way our worldwide brothers and sisters could be taking snaps in the night, afternoon, evening etc.  (ie if you are in New York it would be really early in your morning at 11am GMT, if you are in Australia it would be your evening at 11am GMT) - Poll option 1

Or it could be just at your 11am wherever you are in the world (though all the photos would be late morning and a bit samey?)  Poll option 2

In the UK (and across the Commonwealth?) it will be armistice day too.

Good idea?  Anyone up for it?  Do my two option descriptions make sense?

Hi Chops.

Yep - count me in.

I'll be in Cambodia (Siem Reap). Currently, Cambodia is 7 hours ahead of the UK. As the UK will put the clocks back an hour at the end of this month and assuming Cambodia stays the same (I've no idea whether they use daytime saving) we will be 8 hours ahead of UK on 11/11. Therefore, I'd need to take a shot at 19:11 Cambodian local time. Does that sound right...??

Better get some Ilford Delta 3200...... ::)

How's things?

Wasn't thinking of going down to the individual minute (though now you've mentioned it I think I'll try for 11:11).

Just around 11am (GMT) - 19:00ish in Cambodia

All's going great thanks.  Put a cheeky post on your holiday camera choice thread  ;D

I'm in!

Might be tricky as I return  from Crete on the 11th. I will possibly be in Athens airport or indeed in the air!

Okay, I have checked flight times and I will be in Athens Airport - the police have guns (and debt) oh well, I'll give it a go. I'll get Jan to distract them ;D

Hi Phil.

If you're in Greece, keep your camera out of sight near any of the airports. You know they don't have much of a sense of humour when British tourists take photos of the nice aeroplanes..... :o  ;D

I'm in, but for local time since it will be 4 AM here if I do GMT..

I could do an astrophoto, but don't want to count on it happening.

Sounds fun!  It will be Veteran's Day also....

Chops, I'm going for option 2 (11:11 "local" time) as, that way, I am much more likely to have the camera with me and be somewhere interesting around the Angkor Wat temple complex.

Ed/Leon - can we make this official?

What are the normal rules?  Photos submitted by end of November?

good idea.

Do a search for other collaboration threads, and cut/ paste the "rules" from the head post - and adapt it to fit the new idea, but keep the main collaboration rules the same please (e.g. no digi pics, image size etc).  Once you've done that, I'll sticky the thread so it can't be missed.

I know Ed is way beyond busy with other things right now - not sure when he will be back on the radar, and I'm rushed off my feet with other stuff, so not sure when we'll get the time to get the gallery organised (it takes way more time than you would think).  So expect a delay between the submissions coming in and the gallery going up.

Do you want to delete this thread?

I've stickied up the main thread.  We'll just leave this one for reference of that is ok with you Matt? It doesn't take up any space, and costs nothing to feed and water, so no worries.
