adapting....
« on: September 09, 2011, 01:57:22 PM »
I am looking to find out if there is some type of adaptor that will allow me to use modern lenses on my old Canon A-1? I have an adaptor for Nikon to Canon but curious if there is something out there that will work this way??

Hi Diane,

Sadly I dont think there is!

a pity as the registry distance of the FD lenses is about 42mm so the following could be
mounted no problem!

Canon EF: 44mm
M42 [screw mount]: 45.46mm
Pentax K: 45.46mm
Contax/Yashica (CY): 45.5mm
Olympus OM: 46mm
Nikon F: 46.5mm
Leica R: 47mm
Contax N: 48mm
Mamiya 645: 63.3mm

I have an AE-1 and some olympus Zuiko lenses that could fit nicely enough
but I cannot source an adapter. there are adapters for many OLD lens to NEWER body
scenarios but the older FD system is kind of overlooked.

Cool Diane yes 1 reel will be fine, could you check if it will take an 80mm reel?

I have me eye on a 120 reel but cant get a right priced tank.

this UK based company makes/sells different kind of adaptors and other accessories and stuff, not sure whether you checked already though, maybe they can help?

Like, a standard Kalt dev tank and reel? Would a 2x35mm tank work? It'll hold one 120 reel with extra space.

You can't have mine, but the place where I bought mine still has one on the shelf, I think. Rubber/plastic lid, though. Do you need a tank with a steel lid? Haven't seen one of those in years.

What kind of price point?
