Its the weekend...
« on: August 12, 2011, 09:01:20 AM »
And seeing as I'm taking a half day off work and I have no phone line/broadband at home (thanks to BT) I'm going to start off the weekend thread with a couple of shots I took with a plastic Lex35 pano camera which usually chews up my film - these are the first shots I've ever managed to get out of the thing. I just used up a roll of expired something or other at the local kids steam fair not expecting to be able to get the film out in one piece..

Happy weekending folks  :D

NB: I got these processed at Snappy Snaps - process only for 35mm is £2.99.. (no scanning, printing or cutting).. - bargainous, although I wouldn't entrust anything special to them  ;D

Thanks guys, this was a roll of the expired film I got from urbanhafner a while back.

A strange thing, in a couple of the frames there is a young child in a living room, which I know I didn't take. No idea how they ended up on the film..  and the roll was unopened & unused before I loaded it.. ???

nice shots suzi! I think the blur really gives something extra to the shots~

nice of you to start the thread, I'll just go ahead and chime in with two polaroids from yesterday - mentally out of the office already anyway ;D

Suzi, extraordinary colours on the fair gorund pictures - doubtless not accurate but sometimes wrong is right!
jojonas, enjoyed the witty "analogue gear still-life" with the Yashica as well.
Here is another Paris Bridges pic, Mamiya 6, 50mm, FP4, printed on Ilford WT RC, no toning (yet).
Split grade print, shadows under arch at grade 4, the rest at grade 1.5.

Suzi - I'm glad you could put that film to good use, I'm just not really fond of expired film.
Jonas - Great portrait of the Yash
Dave - Now that I'm moving to France I can't wait to visit Paris again. I may need to stock up on B&W roll film :)

Hi Suzi... first shot is my amazing... I really like it! and thanks for the snappy tip... I only went there once but didn''t like it at all for what they're charging. I have been using Boots for colour 35mm (£4.60 36 exp).

Finally developed my Fuji Neopan SS from Japan. Interesting film, much lower contrast than Acros. Too bad they don't make it in 120 (or sell it outside of Japan).

Good stuff all.  Personal favs are Suzi's chair-o-planes, jojonas' polaroids (the colours in the second especially), Sean's second and Lino's first (I'm a sucker for pics of cats with attitude).

A few from me from a recent trip to Norwich Cathedral.  Bronica/Acros/Aculux.

Really like the second one from jojonas, and Dave's shot reminds me of the RiverWalk in San Antonio, Texas- my hubby's hometown.

I'm especially liking the b&w stuff thus far.  (I want to be in Paris too!)

But I went to Boston last week, and wasted some film there.  First is Ektar in the Ikoflex, the others are both taken with my Exakta VX1000, one on Portra 160NC and the other on Fomapan

Lovely images so far, everyone. Particular mentions in dispatches are Suzi's photos (how do you choose amongst them?), Dave's Paris Bridges, Sapata's first (though the second isn't bad either  ;)), Lino's third, Grey Fish's Norwich shots (I'm just outside Norwich tomorrow at the Dorothy Bohm exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre) and not least Terry's lovely work.

Mine are from a couple of weeks ago. Leica M6 TTL with Tri-X processed via CS3 and a sepia tone added in Silver Efex Pro. The scans were done by Snappy Snaps (I didn't ask for them so they gave me the disc free. They're okay but a bit gritty as low res jpgs.)

No. 1 for me Suzi - Lovely.

2 lovely polaroids from Jojonas - love the first one.

Here are 2 I shot last weekend with a Canon EOS1 on Fuji Neopan SS
using the Sunny 16 rule and pushed 1 stop in Fuji Ilfosol 3.

Sean above was saying SS is a low contrast film - maybe the push process
boosted the cantrast for me.

great stuff all, especially your pola's jojonas, but everyone knows I have a softspot :-P

litterally just been round to my uncles to use his epson V700 so have a few 120 scans to upload, here are a couple from weeeks and weeks ago, my friend laura (firehoe to her friends, don't ask) one of my mums vintage dresses, an insanely hot sunny day, gedling woods and some xpro velvia, great fun. still kinda wish I had gone for the E6 process on this roll though.... maybe next time. I'm a bit too excited about portra at the mo to shoot much more chrome, unless i can get hold of some astia.

Some wonderful gems again this weekend as usual.

A bit of multi-culturalism in the antipodes:

The relatively invisible presence of Australian Americana seen for decades and the more recent influx of new cultures and new languages into suburbia.

A bit of a test shot with the Isolette (after dropping it down half a flight of wooden stairs!)

Neopan stand developed in HC-110, oh and then scanned in on my 35mm-only flatbed scanner (hence the rather odd dimensions!)

Had got the far end of the DoF on the lamp furthest away from the cottage to at least get a little bit of blur in the background when using f16

Great work this weekend from all. I'm away in the sun for a few weeks so road testing Tapatalk with a Chimay beer! This of course impacts on my memory.
Suzi, wonderful. Sean, digging yours and Miller, likewise. Can't believe it's Saturday and we are on page 2.
Anyway, back to the beer and something from me later.

A Gakkenflex from last fall.  It had some bad marks on the neg -- a problem of pressing on the back of the G'flex especially with B&W emulsions -- that I finally got around to fixing on a blissfully rainy boring morning.

Thom that first shot is lovely.

Here are a few from the recently overhauled YashicaMat.  I was having great trouble with negatives that had no contrast, and mistakenly blamed the lens.  Even contrasty scenes had to be printed with a #4 contrast filter and they looked awful.  But I read that internal reflections were common on this camera and adding flocking would help.  It more than helped!  These were all printed with a #1 filter, which is a good sign I think.  It's been fun getting this old camera back in shape.

Have a great weekend all,

Jeff

Really like the middle one !
Wondering if you did the flocking yourself or did Mr. Hama do it?
I've talked to him about cleaning my Mat and will send it as soon as I finish up the roll currently inside it.
Thanks!

Hi Becky, and thanks.  The flocking is really easy to do yourself.  It's a self adhesive product sold to astronomy buffs to line the insides of their telescopes.

Before pic follows.  See how the inner walls are satin finish instead of flat black?

and after pic showing the flocking.  You just cut it to the right size and stick it in there.

The flocking material is cheap and you get one sheet that's big enough to do many cameras.  If you PM me your address I'll send some your way.

Best,

Jeff

little bit late but finally set my scanner up (and had to put it quickly away again, no space!).

Lovely pics everyone. Too many good ones to list, but especially like the ones Suzi opened the thread with.

One pola from me on some of that very old 108 film that was on ebay recently.

And one on a zenit that someone lent me, the classic "you like old cameras, right?" - so I took some photos of their little girl and gave them to them, pretty pleased with this one.

thank you very much  :)

It is just Kodak ultra max 400iso , bought a load from the local pound shop for £1 a roll. then just developed at local independent photo developer, who are very good and take pride in their work.

they still have more kodak film at the pound shop, but a different variety...
