What a momentous occasion - it's the first time I've started one of these threads.  :)

The pics here were all shot the other week (but scanned in the last couple of days), in a village on the north-east coast of Scotland. I was there to take pictures for a friend who's been making a film - called Dummy Jim - for ten years. This was the last week of filming, and it was the best few days I've had in years. My brief was pretty open - to take some pictures of the surrounding area, some portraits of the actor Sam, and some stills of the filming.

The film is based on the true story of James Duthie, who was profoundly deaf and mute, who cycled from the village of Cairnbulg and Inverallochy to the Arctic Circle in the 1950s. You can find out more here: http://dummyjim.com/ and here: http://www.facebook.com/DummyJim

Scuse the plethora of images, but I hope you like.

A couple more recent pinholes taken on a trip to the Dorset coast earlier this year. The weather was pants for LF image making (what I originally went for) but ideal for pinhole... and no lens to be sprayed with salt either!

The next two are from the Rolleiflex 3.5F on HP5 developed in D76 1:1

What a great start!

Ailsa the second set is just great. My fave is the church one.
Paul, I go for the second one

I went to take some pictures of a friend of mine here in Manila. I like it very much to take pictures of friends; it puts pressure on trying do do something different and obtain some decent portraits which I find really difficult. Two with the POlaroid 195, ligth was soooo weaaaak. The color one with the Pentax 67 and portra 800.

This was from my second roll ever of slide film (Provia 100F), shot 2 months ago, but I never got to scan it until now as I didn't have the proper equipment. WOW!!! The colours are much more amazing than I thought. I only auto-colour corrected in photoshop, no more tweaking or extra saturation or any manipulation.

These are from the dock area in Kaohsiung, Taiwan

Ailsa- love the last one in the second set.  Great to see you first out of the chute!

Paul- those pinholes are extra sweet.  Love them!
Mil- those scooters-wow!
and Phil- as you mentioned once before....cars should definitely have fins again!

Those provia shots are sweet!  I exposed a roll of it two weeks ago and had a devil of a time exposing it properly.  But you nailed it.

From this week (Zeiss Ikon with ZM35mm/2.0). . .

Great work everyone so far...!

What a start Ailsa! I particularly like the second series...
I love the two polaroids two as well Patrick ;)

I have a few pictures I took with my newly fixed Kodak Vest Autograph. Following the "glue and detergent" recipe from the web, I fixed the bellows... no light leaks.

I used an original 127 back paper film as a template and cut a new one from a discarded 120 to cover the 35mm film. I them drew the frame numbers following the template an loaded the 127 spool with some Fuji Across...

Usual brilliant weekend thread again, I see....... :)

Ailsa's set will take some beating. Paul Mitchell's second shot is superb (and the first one ain't too shabby!). Patrick Ryan's shots are fab - but I especially like the last one. Windy's shot of Beth is lovely - very natural and uncontrived and Mil's junk robot is hilarious.

I got the first roll back from my Rollei 3.5t. Not good, I'm afraid. I couldn't get the camera to wind onto "12", so I opened the back and wound the film off manually. This seems to have caused a bit of light leakage around the edges and I don't think I had the hang of using the meter. However, a couple have come out okay. There a nice of of our Heather and her hubby and another I took (in a hurry) on the way to a meeting near Embankment on Tuesday.

I've got a roll of Tri-X in the Rollei now and I must find out of there's any trick to unloading the camera safely as well as testing the meter readings against my Minolta Auto Meter IVF.

Ok, went back through and:

Paul, love those pinhole coastal shots!
Patrick, feels like 1950 America. Love 'em!
Carlos, such wonderful portraits of your friend. Love the second one the most.
Windy, great composition with the shot above her head.
Phil, what a fantastic angle!
HS, is that your new subject? Cant wait to see the story unfold!
Mil, wonderful textures in those shots!
Sean, I saw that second one, as you know, but not the first. Totally awesome!!
Cant read my writing here but those shot of the kids, especially on the bench, awesome!
Sapata, those panos are great and really love that strange blurriness!
Soap, wonderful mood, especially the first.
Cwilk, great summer shots. Love the mood.
LD, wonderful light!

Here is mine. TIP black frame of Descanso Gardens, the California oak tree forest. It got blasted with light so I had a lot of fixing to do.

Good stuff this week :D

sapata - have you checked the film pressure plate is feeling nice and springy and doesn't move around when you tilt the camera like that? Wondering if something like that is causing the odd centre fuzziness.

LD - That may well be my new favourite photo of me by a FWer. It may well replace ArtsyKen's picture of me with that one heheh :)

Thanks for pointing that out Heather... I guess you're right. Although it's not easy to see as the pressure plate is hidden in the same way of screw mount Leica cameras. I will have to open the camera for a closer inspection...

Ok, I know it´s going to sound weird but today I dreamt with filmwasters, I was with couple of filmwasters, that may be were sean and francois... then I started to take a picture and one of them advised me to modify the composition so I could get better use of light... and in the dream made sense!!!

Sean horses and Mojave dark forest my faves! IP I do not want to say it but it looks cool!!

Three more with the Canon A1, some images from the PHilippines. One is from a celebration in a small town, the other school inauguration and the third one at home. We were cooking and the fire alarm went on and three security guards from the building came to my apartment... That very same day we were almost kicked out from one mall because I went with baby and Elena to ladies bathroom to change baby´s clothes... That was a weird weekend.. Oh, yes, the shots  8)

This is good--I'm getting to be able to identify people's work before I see the name tag.  Some outstanding examples this holiday weekend.

I started the holiday early and went for a walk in the city with my trusty and reliable Exakta (Fomapan 100 souped at 1:50):

How on earth do you get such a wide range of tones?
Pure black to pure white, through all those lovely greys.

My scans never look anything like this!

Bwahahah! I love The Onion newspaper vending box!

Just back from meeting up with Late Developer, saw half of the Museum of London angry street photography before a fire alarm had us ushered out at high speed, went to some other galleries and caught the last day of the Bruce Davidson exhibit at the Chris Beetles Photography Gallery. Not a bad day considering I was originally planning on sitting at home tidying up my flat all day  ;D

anyway, I did manage to scan some film this past week... 2 rolls of 35mm and 1 roll of holga. I like my dorky cliche' waterfowl holga pics and the pavement is some random alley in Edinburgh

Damn it...! The first half decent SX-70 photo I've ever taken....!!! Clearly, the subject matter is what makes the difference.

Fantastic meeting up again with Heather and her hubby - who showed me a fantastic selection of galleries in the West End. Shame about the fire drill at the Barbican - excellent exhibition of street photography in London from the mid-19th century to date. Well worth the visit if you're in the vicinity.

Congratulations also to Barcelona and all their fans. They're a plentiful bunch and in great spirits before the game - and probably in even greater spirits afterwards. Mind you, I'm really not biased. I genuinely don't care who beats Manchester United... ;)

Oh, and I lurrrvvvv Heather's third Holga shot. Great depth and, being a northerner, cobbles make me feel right at home......
