8x10 Paper Negative
« on: May 15, 2011, 12:16:00 PM »
I got frustrated with the slow progress I was making with the construction of my wooden 8x10 camera. Having made the  various fittings, I fabricated a simple cardboard box and fitted the brass pinhole, taped a single sheet of paper inside and took the "hole" for a test run. I hope to complete the camera this weekend!

450 micron hole drilled in brass shim stock.
Arista Grade II paper, pre-flashed and developed in highly diluted paper developer and water bath.
Paper negative scanned and adjusted in PS.
Regards,

Lawrie.

Test run?
What a cracking photo!  ;D

It's enough to make me go and load my old EOS pinhole and take some snaps.

Hats off to you!

Excellent!
paper negs are something I have vowed to do more of this summer, so this is great encouragement for me to pursue it.

Can we see the cardboard pinhole box you constructed.  I like seeing the cameras as much as the results!
Thumbs up!  And please do more!

Awesome.
Your test runs are better than my final prints...

Do you have access to positive paper ? Is it something you will try with your pinhole ?

Other question : Do you build your homemade 8x10 to use it with lenses or holes ?
Can we see it ?

I echo the other filmwasters in saying show us the camera!  This is a stellar shot - you've got enviable paper negative-chops!!

Thank you all  -  for the interest and kind comments. On May 16th I posted a picture of the cardboard box camera under 8x10 "The Box Camera". During the next few days I should complete my wooden 8x10 camera, which will be for pinhole use only and not for lens work, and will post a picture then. I have ordered some Harmann direct positive paper and look forward to experimenting!

Regards,

Lawrie.
