forget evil marketing, TIP lied!
« on: May 13, 2011, 12:01:24 AM »
I dont have a lot of cash and already try to support TIP despite the fact that they rip us all off and their marketing's a joke, but I really splashed out to get their triple dip because I saw there were less than 100 left. In fact I saved the screen because I thought it to be a sad day that stocks were running down.

I checked back today, and there are now, less than 1,000 left. 'Adventurous Black Frame' marketing is one thing but outright lies pertaining to their stock levels seems too far to me. Am I alone here?

I mean I really respect what they do in terms of keeping Integral alive... but they have to have been reading the same marketing manual as Ryanair!

If you look, previously it was film shipping from the US. When they ran out, the link reverted to worldwide supplies, with shipping from Europe at higher cost. You can change your region up top of the site to see the supply in various regions. If you go to check out with the black frame now, it will tell you it is shipping from the EU.

Perhaps I wasn't clear about which film I was referring to, I'm not sure. I'm talking about the Triple Dip for the 100 type pack film and I've checked and with the exception of Asia and NZ, it seems the US counter is at around 600 something and all the others are at well over 1000.

I well accept that there are complicated logistics behind an operation like this, but me as the end customer, I've only ever seen what they've presented to me on their main shop page, regardless of where they're sourcing it from and I just feel a bit cheated to have spent money in panic, whereas I definitely would have waited had the counter have been more realistic, showing me what was actually left that was available to me.

I don't know, I posted in anger :D I just get frustrated, like I see many others with TIPs marketing in general. Because I really do respect what they're doing, and I love their film, but just feel like they're taking us all for a bit of a ride.

i guess if you wanted it, you were going to buy it regardless of how much they had left...so your money wasn't wasted. if you didn't want it you wouldn't bother at all! i agree the marketing is a bit over the top sometimes, but i only feel a special need to grab something quickly if i know it won't be around long, like these super cheap black frame x 6 bags. all these other films they make are probably available in the thousands, like the push, etc. plus even if i don't buy a current type, they will probably just release a better version in the future. i think they still have first flush for sale though, so obviously no shortages of IP branded film.

All of the Giambarba 100 type films have fluctuating stock levels and have for some time. I dont know why. I just assumed they were actually running out of stock and got more later. Who knows where they get their stock. Very recently they got a whole mess of 665 and I think it sold out in record time.

anne explained to me awhile ago that IP doesn't own the three 100 films (choco, blue and sepia)...there are some dealings with polaroid (or whomever bought the polaroid stock in Europe) to get stock as they need it. she says they aren't very nice people to deal with and they are the reason prices went up a year or so ago to $18 a pack.

all the other stuff probably comes from warehouse finds. i'm surprised they didn't contact this company in tucson to buy up 108 film for reselling at $40 a twin pack!
