Topic: Bangkok tips please

Well, jumping into the "momentum" created by Damion would like to ask for any tips regarding photo related things in Bangkok. I'm going there for a long weekend this month. I do not ask about any filmwasters being there because I think there are none. But otherwise please correct me. I keep looking but haven't found photo any exhibitions worth to visit yet.

Any help will be appreciated my dear photofellas

Mrs LD and I intend to visit Bangkok (+ Siem Reap, Chiang Mai and Krabi) in November. Bangkok will be the "hub" for catching trains, planes and coaches to the various destinations and we will probably spend 3 days there - minimum. Therefore, any information on local sights and places of interest really would be appreciated by us as well.

I've been!  
One place that is a must see is "The Grand Palace", and in particular the "The Temple of the Emerald Buddha".

There are not enough words to describe the resplendency of it.
Take color film, the light is amazing and the decor is intoxicating.

Be sure to go down some of the side streets in town where the food vendors have their little stations set up.  I was there during the fall the year I went, so they had roasted chestnuts in paper cups.  Yumm!

The freeway traffic is amazingly congested during rush hour and is quite a sight in itself.  
Explore and take lots of film!

Hi Becky, thanks for the suggestion!   In fact I have been couple of times in bangkok, and this time I was looking for something more specific like photo exhibitions, but not easy to find. I have just found one gallery where they exhibit time to time some photo works

Late developer it depends what kind of photography you are planning to do; but if you like street photography there is no way you gonna miss it as it does not matter where you go Bangkok is just a thrilling place with tons of street life. I specially liked and plan to go back to chinatown with its little india. Then there is a water market and back packer lonely road... I will bring with me high speed film as I would like to shoot during the night, but I realized I only have one roll of fuji 800..  so I will try to buy some there in this place and see what they have http://www.cameracollection.net/

I may be there 22 to 24 of Apr but it depends if I have to extend my Shanghai trip or not. Probably I will have to extend my trip.

no idea on photo exhibitions and the like. But as you said there is so much life on the streets that I'd rather just shoot shoot and shoot.

Only film I found was on Sukhumvit and it was fairly standard Superia 200 and similar stuff.

Hi Calbisu (et al).

First time there for my missus and myself. Therefore, Astrobeck's suggestions are spot on for us. I intend taking my M6 TTL, and Panasonic Lumix LX3 (for digisnaps when I need to change film speed but can't - or where I want colour but I'm half way through a roll of Tri-X). My missus will be taking either Nikon the D700 or a Canon G10. Maybe the latter as we will do some snorkelling at the beach resort and we have a housing for the G10.

I have access to a Nikonos with a 35mm lens. Anyone ever used one above water? I might give it a go as it could come in very handy if it rains..!!

Our choice of camera(s) depends on whether we decide to just get flights and travel around under our own steam or if we go for the full "package tour". I favour the former as it allows more freedom and no requirement to be at a certain place.

Incidentally, thanks for the link to "cameracollection". That looks like an interesting place (and one not to take your credit card to  )  I will take plenty of film (Tri-X and new Portra 400) as I'm not a fan of Fuji Superia and Kodak Color Plus.
