Well, for one I won't complain about a bit of string talk
Sadly, I can't cay I have anything very expensive at home.
My main electric guitar is a First act I got in the box for a 50$ liquidation price from Radio-Shack!
Well, while not being "great", it does the job. I tend to find it a bit too crisp so when the strings give out, I have a spare pack of Ernie Ball Power Slinkies for it.
Funny thing is, my good amp (which cost more than the guitar) is a VOX DA5 with computer driven modeling. Volume to the max, Gain to the max and the max gain setting on with compression belches out something quite nasty that can easily strip the paint off furniture
I also have another amp which I hand made using an old computer subwoofer which I gutted and installed a Little Gem (LM386 based) amp inside. It runs on a single 9volt battery and can go from incredibly clean to sounding like a big Marshall stack with a turn of the knob... but without the volume since it's rated at around 0.2 watt (just enough for people to tell me to turn it down).
I also have a Chinese made country guitar my mom found at a garage sale for 2$. After replacing the nut, strings and a tuner, it sounds pretty good though I get a slight fret buzz on one of the strings... probably due to the slightly worn out frets.
I have another Chinese made acoustic I found at a rummage sale for 5$... and the neck broke while driving it back home so I ended up gluing it back with epoxy. This one is stringed in nylon.
I also have 2 cigar box guitars. Both are 3 stringers tuned to DAD and are hand built. They're great and dead easy to play, especially when using a slide. Both have piezo pickups I took from those annoying singing birthday cards. They are incredibly sensitive and give a surprisingly good sound when placed directly under the bridge.
There's also a kid's guitar, the uke and a handmade 4 string electric banjo which needs new strings...
Recently, I've discovered shark fin picks. They are truly wonderful, especially on acoustics!
