Awesome shot!  Whereabouts in Texas was that taken?  I'm always looking for "new" old spots to photograph.

Phil, saw your image on Flickr. Love it!! I love the angle you chose. All those creeping vines on the pump really add drama to the image and tell a story of a long neglected building.

My shot was taken yesterday at Llano del Rio. This place is about 10 mins away from where I live and I always knew it was a failed socialist colony, but I had no idea that it was billed as the most significant non-religious colony in U.S. history until I dug a little deeper after taking the pix.

This is a Holgaroid Fuji 100C bleach washed neg converted to black and white. Interesting thing about these negatives. I left that thing sitting in a batch of fixer for a few hours. Forgot about it completely. Pulled it out of the tank and the image was totally gone. Figured oh well and just set it on the counter to get back to work. Went back later and the image reappeared. Bizarre. I had no idea how that happened but I bet somebody here does. The image Im posting here was made prior to the fixer bath.

I'm still going through my photos from Cornwall. Here's one I scanned last night of Amy throwing a monumental 5 year old strop at Duckpool beach. Polaroid Land Camera + expired 125i film. Print stained in coffee.

Mojave: I do like your Holgaroid a lot. I've spent a few hours on and off today (mostly off due to parental duties!) playing around reclaiming negs from a batch of FP-100C45 film that I shot in Cornwall. The bleaching's the easy bit. The hard bit is removing the baked-on goop.

Thank you so much Ed! Im diggin' your image too. I remember this from the print. I think the image you posted before was the print anyway. This is awesome. I love how you stained it in coffee. And it looks like an emulsion transfer.

What is the baked on goop? Is it the stuff Im thinking is the emulsion? The stuff that gets soft and gooey when you soak the neg in water? I dont really know what these negatives are made of so I apologize if Im getting the names of things messed up.

Yeah I guess it's technically called the emulsion in this case. Francois will know  :) Anyway, if you leave it on for a few weeks without soaking it off it becomes pretty hard to shift.

Oh, gotcha!!! Makes sense. I suppose its even worse if you leave it in your car for two weeks in the middle of summer.  Then its really baked on. :)

I think you're talking about the reagent compound used to develop and fix at the same time. The stuff is a nice jelly like texture when fresh and hardens to rock hard when completely dry.

If it lifts with the image when soaked, then it's the gelatin used to hold the silver halides :)

Love the portraits Calbisu! I didnt see the other one, the one of the woman. Her eyes are just as stunning as the mans blue eyes. Wonderful!!!

And thank you Francois!!! I understand. Can you tell me why the image would totally fade away to nothing in a fixer bath and then come back later when the film dried? I had no idea such a thing could happen.

Wonderful shots again this weekend.

Developed and scanned these from my recent Bristol trip yesterday. Legacy Pro developed in aculux taken on the OM10.

Had coffee with Andrea yesterday morning and discussed my 'need' for a darkroom so that I can do things like this in a natural way.

Hey Phil, its southern California on the very edge of the western part of the Mojave desert. I would love to go to Texas. I drove through it once but thats it so far. I really need to start traveling.

Love all the new images. Such a wide variety of styles and processes. I sure wish I could find the ingredients for Caffinol C but they just dont sell soda wash and powdered vitamin c around here.

Thank you Phil! I feel very blessed to be living here. I moved from Huntington Beach about 5 years ago and even though everybody looks at me like I just sprouted a horn from my forehead when I tell them that, I wouldnt change it. This place and the wildlife is what inspired me to start shooting again. Got some well meaning but bad advice from a parent when I was a teenager and gave up photography for about 25 years.

I can't say exactly why but the photos in this thread stand out, in my eye, as being especially interesting.  I really enjoy Phil's weedy gas pump and Windy's Bristol pub.

I went to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston last week to see two photo exhibits.  There is a large show of Richard Avedon's fashion photography and a smaller, more intimate (and to me, more pleasing) exhibit of Nicholas Nixon's family pictures, including all 34 of the Brown sisters group portraits (in 8x10 contact prints).

Wandering to and from the train station in Boston I made these pictures with my Canonet G-III on Tri-X developed in Xtol.

Just spent the middle of the afternoon running a few rolls of Fuji BW400CN through the 500 c/m down at Shoeburyness (the extreme eastern end of Southend-on-Sea, Essex where the Thames estuary finally becomes the North Sea.)

I'll be popping the films in for processing tomorrow before departing for Manchester (back late Thursday evening). So, assuming I remember, I'l have some film to scan and "mess with" before posting at the weekend.
