Back from Cornwall
« on: August 20, 2010, 01:23:42 PM »
Yo! I'm back from the longest holiday I've had in a few years (2 whole weeks no less!)....and hating it already :D It is however, great to be able to join in here again as there was no network where I was hunkered down in Cornwall.

I took a few snaps here and there and even managed to squeeze in a couple of - wait for it - dedicated photo shoots. However, they were both very rushed and I had to bring them to a close early...right around the point that I felt I was finally getting somewhere. Bah! The good news is that I got to tinker with my Tachihara (5x4) properly for the first time since I bought it 18 months ago. I really enjoyed that part. I also discovered that my fave new Polacolor 125i staining solution is Lavazza Red after it's been through a percolator - but we need to keep that a secret  ;)

I've come home with a few promising looking images and will post them here once they've been stained, neg-reclaimed, emulsion lifted and scanned (or any combo of the above). In the meantime here are a few snaps of me hiding my face in 3 different ways. Micha snapped away with his Canon DSLR while I fought the wind to try and keep the Tachihara from being blown over. On a side note, I was really impressed by the Canon and had some hands-on time with it one evening. I love the video capabilities of it in particular and may look to use one for future Filmwasters video podcasts if a DSLR ever falls into my lap....which, to be fair,  is highly unlikely. It has to be said that DSLRs are hard to beat when it comes to taking sexy photos of proper cameras  :D ;)

You managed to keep your face hidden and yet flaunt your legs in all three  :o

Welcome back, Ed.

I really like Phil's use of the word Flaunt in regards to Ed's legs.  :)

I have just gottten back from a week and a half in Cornwall myself. Shot some digital but mostly shot my Zeiss Ikon and my RB67 which I discovered has seals melting in the backs, so I guess it is a trip to Oxford to get them tuned up and re-sealed  ;)
