Athina Hafner
« on: July 15, 2010, 02:21:42 PM »
As some might remember my wife was pregnant. Our little daughter Athina was born on July 5th. She weighted 3580g and was 51cm long. Here are the first analog images of her and her mum (Minolta X-300, 50mm f/1.4, Fuji Superia 200).

More to follow when I find the time to develop the black and white negatives.

Of course I am proud. She's the best, sweetest, nicest, cutest of them all. So why would I not be proud? ;)

Thanks. That 50mm f/1.4 is a sweet lens. But I have to be more careful, it's just too easy to focus on the wrong thing at 50cm :)

Thanks Miller. I wouldn't want to miss any of the early days for anything in the world. That's why I've taken one year of (the state partially pays for that here in Germany) while my wife finishes her PhD.

Jeez, I got to leave work early for a week and further week off following on.

But I did go part-time for over a year so it was perfect bonding time.

Baby photos are very cool...and these two are lovely. Well done. I wish you every success with the ongoing baby photos and with being a dad; congratulations  :) While Athina is so small and young you'll be able to take time with the shots which is great. Altough, as I'm sure you know, babies do tend to speed up as they get older and it becomes increasingly hard to get the perfect shot...esp with shallow DoF. Which is a shame because shallow DOF works so well with portraits.

Sometimes though you can end up with a pretty cool mistake:

Congratulations to you both, a beautiful little girl with a beautiful name.

Urban, I assume you didn't feel a thing ;)

I would suggest as she gets older investing in something with a nice motor drive to capture the action!

Good idea. There is a motor drive for the Minolta X-300 if I remember correctly. Doesn't help with the shallow depth of field though :) I will just have to take enough pictures then. And as long as I'm faster than my dad (who used to take minutes to compose a shot, at least that's what I remember ;)) then I'm good.

Congrats Urban.

Athina looks so sweet when sleeping... I sometimes wish I could sleep this gracefully too ;D

Thank you. A baby is the best excuse to buy film. I just bought 30 rolls of 35mm :) I'm slowly taking over the fridge and the freezer it seems ;)
