I say Mr. Wenn "England's Finest"
« on: June 23, 2010, 11:11:43 PM »

So for ?4.01 on the bay I couldn't resist ... The Coronet 4-4

Looks like the lady that won it back in the 50's (?) on Mardy St. never used it as all the paperwork and complementary roll of 127 are untouched.  Now, what are the chance of the film ... Ok, just thought I'd ask ...

Indeed, the 4-4 is a beauty. Doesn't it just feel right in your hands?

Loaded the "original" film today, will consult with Leon on his return if it's worth trying to develop, maybe as a practise.  The mailman brought me a Zenit EM and 4 Lenses today too ! The flippin' 44M I really bought it all for is goosed though I think, no auto apperture jumping, grrrrr ....

Still there's a nice Chinon 28mm in there and manual 105mm plus a host of coloured filters too.

If you have the same instruction sheet with yours that I got with some of my 4-4's you'll appreciate it's a work of art in its own right. I love those line drawings with the lady models.

I have one and I love this camera. I have a small arsenal of 127 expired film to enjoy my Bedfordflex, my Kingston, and my dear coronet 4-4 ;D ;D ;D

you've got to love the 4-4.  If only there were some decent 127 film types available still ... I'd definitely still use mine. As it is I cant be doing with the curly stuff.

If only there was a way to retain everything that's cool about this camera, but make it shoot 120 then I'd be ecstatic. I know Al has a mod documented somewhere where he explains how to shoot 35mm film in the 4-4...that's something worth revisiting I think. Now...where was that article?

I would indeed like to see that.  Going to try (as suggested here) doing the same with the Yash 44.

p.s.
Miles, I'm working in London still, but near Tower Hill, not Moorgate anymore. Could meet after work more or less anytime, but not for lunch.

Going to have to do this !

I have 2x rolls off efke 100 127 that I go from Silverprint (what a place) and I'm saving them for my Baby Yash 44 so wacking some 35mm into the Coronet would be great.

So ... I have FP4 and Delta 400 stocked up as well as some expired old Kodak colour of varoius types.

What do you reckon ?

Also - I'll txt you about a chat maybe next week, would be nice to sit out and jaw.  :D

Try the cheapest 35mm film that you have in the 4-4...better safe than sorry.

Cool, have a roll of 24 ready.

I'm guessing that it will expose over the sproket holes too ?
