Well... somehow, this is a debate I really don't want to see  ;D
I have a diana mini and am quite happy with it... though I must admit it does feel quite fragile (especially the focus and the advance knob).

I have to agree ... the older diana have some worth IMO, but the new ones must really cost pennies to make.  I suppose its all relative though,  If people want to pay that much, then who are we to judge?

Probably quite true. Even though they have a quite few more parts than the subscription type cameras, I suspect the biggest part of the cost is in the labor required to put them together. The rule of thumb (divide by 4) would have them cost around 15$ to produce... That's obviously way too much.

I love how we can have a normal discussion on a loaded topic like this!

I've now sold my Diana Mini (which I didn't pay for BTW), but it feels rather well built to me. At least compared to the Diana+ ...

My friend pointed me at this (partly because he tried to give me the identical camera about 2 years ago because he found it at a jumble sale and I went meh at it)

I'm sorry Ed. We could start a flame war if you like that better. After all it's 'your' forum ;) Or we could just wonder why people spend their money on something like this when you can get cameras at least as good for a fraction of the price somewhere else.

Cool. Someone said 'flame war' on Filmwasters. Makes me feel like a real forum administrator. Can I ban someone now, please?

 ;D ;D

I think the man has a point, but as Leon pointed out if it is of value to someone who are we to judge.

To share an anecdote, once when my wife and I were moving house we had a garage sale to sell some unwanted belongings. Most Londoners would have no concept of what a garage is so to explain it is a big empty cupboard type thing that is outside and you put your car in it. A garage sale is generally held to get rid of all the stuff you have put in the garage which is now impeding your ability to put the car in there.

So we are having this sale one saturday morning and happily selling stuff, my Wife and Mother in Law are working the table at one stage as I was helping people get stuff in their cars, discussing offers on larger items and making tea. Whenever it was quiet I would continue doing chores that needed to be done in regards to moving house, one such chore was rounding up the rubbish in the garage and putting it in the hard waste bin to go out for collection.

Yep you guessed it gang I couldn't find the rubbish that I had left there the night before because someone made my Mother in Law and offer of $5.00 for the rubbish and she said she couldn't possibly let it go for less than 10, she ended up with 8 bucks for it

One persons trash is another person Diana
